brief introduction

On Modern Poetry is a poem written by WallaceStevens. She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, USA, and is now recognized as one of the major American poets in the 20th century. However, Stevens was not able to publish his poems until one year before his death, and then he was widely recognized.

His main works are: Concept of Order (1935), Man with Blue Guitar (1937), Notes on Super Fiction (1942), Necessary Angels, Poetry and Literary Theory.

Wallace Stevens (1879- 1955) is another important American modernist poet after T. S. Eliot. With the in-depth study of modern poetry by critics, their popularity is increasing day by day, and they are often called "poets' poets" or "philosophers' poets".

In 1930s and 1940s, Stevens' poems were anti-popular, sad and showed a rare optimism. Influenced by China's Zen thought, he looked at the whole world optimistically with an empty mind, thus accepting the "evil" in reality, writing poems under the aesthetic view of evil, and endowing the chaotic world with order through imagination.

1955, Wallace Stevens died in Hartford, Connecticut, USA.

Poetry and prose

This poem is about thinking and finding satisfaction in action. But you don't always need to look for it; The scene has been set, and it repeats what is already in the script.

Then the theater becomes something else. Its past is a memory. It must live and learn the local language.

It must face the men and women of this era. It must think about war and find something satisfactory. It must build a new stage. It must stand on the stage like an insatiable actor, recite lines slowly and thoughtfully, and accurately repeat what it wants to hear in its ears with keen thinking. An invisible audience is listening to this voice, not listening to the drama, but listening to themselves being expressed in the emotions of two people, and the two emotions are one. Actors are metaphysics in the dark. When you pluck a musical instrument and a metal string, the sound suddenly penetrates correctly, and the whole contains thoughts, which are neither lower than nor beyond the desire of thoughts.

It must be something satisfactory. It can be a man skating, a woman dancing, a woman combing her hair, and a poem of thoughts and actions.

read

To discuss contemporary poetry in the form of poetry, of course, it will not be expressed by logical reasoning, so what vivid things will the author "discuss"?

Poetry first puts forward "action", and at the same time points out the characteristics of poetry that can be met but not sought. Is it a play? So what is this scene like? Scenery, script and theater are of course essential in the play, while memory, language, men, women, war, meditation and lines are important factors in the play, and so are the audience. The author deliberately used a "listen" here to listen to himself and his lines. Finally, the author also discusses with great interest what poetry is. As we all know, the mystery of the Sphinx is more fascinating and more difficult to solve than the real mystery of the Sphinx.

In fact, we can read it clearly here, without an answer, there is no answer, and it is also an answer.
