Part One

The autumn wind is bleak, the weather is cold, the grass and trees are withered, and the white dew is frost. The swallows say goodbye and return, and the swans fly south. I miss my beloved who is traveling far away, and my heart breaks. I am full of thoughts and miss my hometown. Why do you want to leave others alone? The concubine stays alone in her boudoir. When she is sad, she misses the gentleman and cannot forget him.

Unconsciously, tears fell down and wet my clothes. He took the guqin and plucked the strings, but a trace of sadness came out. The short song is chanted softly, seeming to continue and break. The bright moonlight shines on my empty bed, the stars flow slowly to the west, and the sleepless night is long due to worry. The Morning Glory and the Weaver Girl looked at each other from a distance, wondering what sin you had, being blocked by the Milky Way.

Second

The day we break up is easy, but the day we meet is so difficult. The mountains are long, the road is far, and the sky is far apart. I miss him so much that my worries gather, but I dare not say it out loud. In order to relieve my lovesickness, I want to send a letter of inquiry through the floating clouds, but the clouds disappear and disappear. Shedding tears all day long makes her appearance age quickly.

With all the worries in mind, who can not sigh alone! I can only relieve myself by singing the meditative "Yan Ge Xing" in a low voice, but the joy will not last long, and the sorrow will follow. It was late at night, and I couldn't fall asleep because of my worries. I could only put on my clothes and go out and wander in the atrium. I looked up to see the stars surrounding the clouds and the bright moon, but the people were not reunited. The pitiful flying pigeons chirped in the morning mist, lingering in nostalgia and unable to comfort themselves.

Part 1

The autumn wind is bleak and the weather is cool, the grass and trees are shaking and the dew turns to frost, and the swallows say goodbye and return to the south to soar.

I miss you so much when you are traveling, and I miss you so much when you return to your hometown. Why should I leave you somewhere else?

The humble concubine stays alone in the empty room. She worries about you and misses you, and dare not forget her. She sheds tears on her clothes without realizing it.

The sound of the piano and strings are used to clear the business, but the short songs and slight chants cannot be long.

The bright moon shines brightly on my bed, and the stars are drifting west into the night.

The morning glory and the weaver girl look at each other from a distance, how can you live alone in the river beam?

Second

How easy it is to say goodbye to another day, but it is so difficult to meet another day. The mountains and rivers are long and the road is long.

Yutao Sijun did not dare to speak out, and his voice was never returned.

Who can be worried and not sigh when the face is ruined by tears and rain?

Exhibiting poems and clear songs expresses admiration and self-generation, and when joy passes, sorrow comes and destroys the lungs and liver.

I can't sleep with my head in my pillow, so I put on my clothes and go out for a walk.

Looking up at the stars and the moon and the clouds, the morning chirping of flying pigeons is pitiful, and I can’t linger in my heart.

1. Creation background

Yan is the name of a vassal state from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It governed the area around present-day Beijing, northern Hebei, and southwestern Liaoning. This is the border area between the Han people and the northern ethnic minorities. Wars have often occurred since the Qin and Han Dynasties, so rulers over the years have sent heavy troops to guard here.

In the twelfth year of Jian'an (207), Cao Cao's Northern Expedition to Wuhuan took place in the northern part of the ancient Yan Kingdom in the present-day Xingcheng area of ??Liaoning Province. Works that reflect the suffering of war and labor in this region include folk songs as early as the Qin Dynasty, "Be careful not to lift a boy when you give birth to a girl, and feed a girl with his breasts. Under the Great Wall, there are corpses supporting each other." In the Han Dynasty, there was even the famous "Drinking Horses" Great Wall Grottoes".

Cao Pi's "Yan Ge Xing" is the inheritance and development of this kind of literary work in terms of ideological content. Guo Maoqian's "Collection of Yuefu Poems" quoted from "Yuefu Jietie": "The two songs of Emperor Wen of Wei, 'Autumn Wind' and 'Farewell Day', are about changing the time sequence and not returning from the service. The woman complained about the absence and had nothing to complain about." He also quoted from "Yuefu Guang". "Title" says: "Yan is the name of a place. It is said that a good man served in Yan, and this tune was created." There are no ancient words in "Yan Ge Xing", so this tune may have been originated by Cao Pi.

The works reflect the historical phenomena of the four hundred years since the Qin and Han Dynasties, and are also the social reality of the Jian'an period in which he lived.

2. Appreciation of the work

The ideas expressed in the work are not complex, and the subject matter is not particularly new. However, as an upper-class figure in the ruling class, Cao Pi could care about such a situation that involves thousands of families. It is very valuable to express such deep sympathy in the poem about household affairs. In art, he vividly depicts the emotions and psychology of the lyrical heroine. She is graceful and solemn, fiery yet reserved, eager yet dignified.
