What are the songs of Chu?

"Chuci" originally refers to Chuci, and later refers to the new poetic style represented by Qu Yuan's creation during the Warring States Period.

Qu Yuan created a new literary genre-Sao Style; Break the limitation of four words and expand the expressive force of poetry; His patriotism and fighting spirit influenced later writers. His romantic expression was also imitated by poets of all ages, including Li Bai. The Songs of the South initiated by Qu Yuan and the Book of Songs together constitute the two major sources of China's poetry and even the whole China literature.

According to Han Art and Literature, there are 25 works by Qu Yuan, and Wang Yi's Songs of the South include Lisao, Jiuge, Jiuwen, Jiuzhang, Yuan You, Buju and Fisherman.

Li Sao is Qu Yuan's masterpiece and the longest lyric poem in China's ancient literature. Li Sao describes the poet's ideal of "beautiful politics" and his experience of being left out in the cold, pours out his patriotic belief and will never go with the flow, and shows his noble and persistent personality spirit. The artistic achievements of Li Sao are: creating a pure and tall lyric hero image; The perfect combination of profound reality and positive romanticism; Develop comparative techniques and create symbolic artistic images; Created a "Sao style" poem with irregular syntax and a combination of rhyme and prose; The language art of The Book of Songs is developed through the extensive use of disyllabic, rhyming and tautology. The extensive use of dialects in poetry, especially the use of "Xi" sound, enhances the lyrical atmosphere and rhythmic beauty of poetry.

Qu Yuan's other works: Nine Songs was originally the name of an ancient song, which was composed of several movements. The gods worshipped by Jiuge are gods, secular gods and ghosts. Nine Songs is a group of lyric poems with unique theme and style. Among them, "National Mourning" pays homage to the soldiers of the Chu army who died for the country, and their emotions are tragic and intense. Nine Chapters consists of nine works, such as Yong, She Jiang and Ai. The content is mostly related to Qu Yuan's exile experience, mainly documentary, combining scenery description with lyricism, with gorgeous language and strong expressive force. Tian Wen is a unique essay in the history of China literature, which raises questions about nature, history, society and related myths and legends.

Song Yu is an outstanding writer of Chu Ci after Qu Yuan, and his main work is Nine Arguments. Jiubian is good at writing scenery and expressing emotion, which makes "Sad Autumn" a common theme in poetry. "Nine Arguments" entered the poem with prose sentence pattern, and the syntax became more flexible. Other Chu Ci writers include Le Tang and Jing Liu.
