The Songs of the South initiated by Qu Yuan and the Book of Songs together constitute the two major sources of China's poetry and even the whole China literature.

Song Yu is an outstanding writer of Chu Ci after Qu Yuan, and his main work is Nine Arguments. Jiubian is good at writing scenery and expressing emotion, which makes "Sad Autumn" a common theme in poetry. "Nine Arguments" entered the poem with prose sentence pattern, and the syntax became more flexible. Other Chu Ci writers include Le Tang and Jing Liu.
