What is the reason for the formation of Bai poetry style in the early Song Dynasty?

The poetic circles in the early Song Dynasty inherited the poetic style of the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, and formed three major poetic schools, which were called "Song San Jues": "White Style", "Kunxi Style" and "Late Tang Style".

"White Style" is represented by Liu Yun, Xu Xuan, Wang Yucheng and others, with Bai Juyi in the Tang Dynasty as the teacher, showing a leisurely life, elegant style, and simple and vulgar poetic style.

"Kunxi Style" is named after the collection of poems "Kunxi Rewards", represented by Yang Yi, Qian Yi and Li Shangyin in the Tang Dynasty. Its rhetoric is gorgeous, the antithesis is steady, and the allusions are exquisite, which shows the artistic characteristics of Finishing Li Dian.

The "Late Tang Style", represented by hermits such as Ye Wei and Lin Bu, took Jia Dao and Yao He in the Tang Dynasty as teachers, wrote mountain scenery and lived in seclusion in many aspects, emphasized the five laws, chose words and made sentences, and had poor poetic style.

White style is just a form of poetry, and white refers to Bai Juyi. This form of poetry requires learning from Bai Juyi and writing more poems with clear and easy-to-understand ideas. At that time, the first person who proposed to learn Bai Juyi's poetic style was Liu Yun, but Song Taizong Zhao Kuangyin had the deepest influence on this poetic style.

At that time, after Song Taizu became emperor, he wanted to strengthen centralization and better control the people, so he wanted to start with poetry and let it promote the idea of "contentment". Why should we promote this concept? That is to bind the people's thoughts and make them feel that they have food and drink. Don't think so much. Therefore, naturally no one will resist.

Although the vernacular Chinese at that time was not well-known, its charm and thoughts were in line with Song Taizu's wishes, so Song Taizu sent people to publicize the vernacular Chinese with a stroke of a pen, which enabled the vernacular Chinese school to grow and slowly move towards the historical stage. It is worth mentioning that Song Taizu himself is also an excellent poet of the vernacular school.
