Tagore's prose poem Firefly
Firefly full text:
Little fireflies, in the Woods, in the dark dusk,
How happily you spread your wings!
You pour your heart into joy.
You are neither the sun nor the moon,
Aren't you less fun?
You ended your life,
You lit your own lamp;
Everything you have is your own,
You owe nobody;
You just obeyed,
Your inner strength.
You broke through the darkness,
You are young, but you are not young,
Because all the light in the universe,
Are all your relatives.
Ignite yourself in the dark night sky and send a ray of light to you in the distance.
All the happiness comes from me and you who are burning in the dark.
Tagore's poems were translated into Chinese in dribs and drabs as early as the May 4th Movement. It turns out that four classical translations of Chen Duxiu's five-character poems are selected from Gathering Tancang Li. Then there is Liu Bannong's vernacular translation, four of which are selected from Crescent Moon Collection. The earliest collection of Chinese poems was Bird translated by Sidi. His plays include Spring Back, Post Office and Red Oleander.
Since then, various translations, introductions and comments on Tagore's works have appeared constantly, especially before and after Tagore 1924' s visit to China. Since the publication of Birds, a short poem expressing casual feelings has become popular in China poetry circles.
Such as Bing Xin's Stars and Spring Water. Many of them are philosophical, crystal clear and beautiful poems, which have won the love of many people. There are many imitations. Almost influenced a generation of poetic style.
