Gao Shiyi*** wrote 218 poems.
Gao Shi (700-765), Han nationality. Named Dafu and Zhongwu, he was a native of Jingxian County (now Jingxian County, Hebei Province), and later moved to Suiyang, Songzhou (now Shangqiu, Henan Province). A famous frontier poet in the Tang Dynasty, he was known as Gao Changshi. He was lonely and poor at a young age, loved to socialize, had the spirit of a knight, and built his career by making contributions. At the age of 20, he traveled west to Chang'an (today's Xi'an, Shaanxi Province), but returned without achieving fame. In the 20th year of Kaiyuan, I went to Jibei and experienced frontier life. Later he roamed the Liang and Song Dynasties (now Kaifeng and Shangqiu, Henan).
In the third year of Tianbao's reign, he visited Liangyuan (today's Shangqiu, Henan) with Li Bai, Du Fu and Cen Shen, and formed a close friendship, which became a legend in the literary world. In the eighth year of Tianbao (749 years), he was recommended by Zhang Jiugao, the prefect of Suiyang. He passed the examination at the age of 50 and was awarded the title of Qiuwei. Eleven years later, because he could not bear to "whip the common people" and was unwilling to "welcome the officials", he resigned and went to Chang'an again.
The following year, he went to Longyou and Hexi Jiedu to envoy Geshu Hanmu and became the secretary in charge. After the Anshi Rebellion, he served as the governor of Huainan, the governor of Pengzhou, the governor of Shuzhou, and the governor of Jiannan. He eventually became a regular servant in Bohai County, and was known as "Gao Changshi" in the world. He died in the first year of Yongtai (765) at the age of 65. He was given the title of Minister of Rites and given the posthumous title of Zhong.
Gao Shi and Cen Shen are both known as "Gao Cen", and there are "Gao Chang Shi Ji" and other works handed down from generation to generation. His poems are powerful and unrestrained, and are filled with the enterprising and vigorous spirit of the times unique to the prosperous Tang Dynasty. . The Five Sages Temple at Yuwangtai in Kaifeng is dedicated to Gao Shi, Li Bai, Du Fu, He Jingming and Li Mengyang. Later generations also called Gao Shi, Cen Shen, Wang Changling and Wang Zhihuan the "Four Frontier Poets".
