Wen Jie began writing the long narrative poem "The Flame of Revenge" in 1959, which had been brewing for seven or eight years. It includes the first part "The Turbulent Age", the second part "The Rebellious Grassland" and the third part "The Awakening People". Among them, "The Awakening People" only had some chapters published in newspapers and periodicals. It was interrupted due to the occurrence of the "Cultural Revolution" and could not be completed. After the long poem was published, it received enthusiastic recognition and was called an "epic" work and a "poetic novel". At the same time, some people are not satisfied with completing the content of the novel in the form of poetry.
