The creation of the sound of waves still comes from the Tang poem a night-mooring near maple bridge. When Chen Xiaoqi reread "a night-mooring near maple bridge", he felt that words like "Jiang Feng fishing and sleeping" made people daydream endlessly, so he wanted to write a song about it.
The concept of "old boat ticket" in the lyrics is inspired by the poem "midnight passenger ship bell" in the night berth near Fengqiao. Chen Xiaoqi linked the ferry ticket with the passenger ship, recalling the scene when he was studying by boat at the North Gate, so he added the ferry ticket to the lyrics.
Chen Xiaoqi thinks that the sadness described in a night-mooring near maple bridge may be homesickness or other troubles, so he adds love to it. During his writing, Chen Xiaoqi wrote the lyrics of The Sound of the Waves, and then spent two or three months composing music.
