Original text:
It's getting dark, and the wind has rolled up the rain on the rivers and lakes, splashing all over the mountains like huge waves.
The small fire and the felt wrapped around it are so warm that neither my cat nor I want to go out.
I lay sprawled in my lonely country, not feeling sad about my situation, but thinking about defending the frontier of the country.
The night will be over, I lie in bed listening to the sound of wind and rain, in a daze in my dream, riding an armored horse across the frozen river to the northern battlefield.
The Wind and Rain on November 4th was written by Lu You when he retired to Yinshan in November of the third year (1 192). The first poem is about the heavy rain and the poet's place to go, and the second poem shows that Lu You's ambition to join the war of resistance and serve the country is immortal. However, the poet was ambitious, but he was not valued by the court. He can only "lie in a lonely village" and pin his ideal of restoring the Central Plains on his dreams. Deep and tragic feelings condensed the poet's patriotic passion.
