Veterans recalled the Anti-Japanese War: I swam across the Yangtze River and survived, leaving only 1 person in the whole platoon.

On the anniversary of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhou Guangtian, a veteran of Hunan Anti-Japanese War, accompanied by volunteers from Nanjing 12 13 Volunteer League and Changde "1+ 1" Love League, came to Nanjing to pay homage to his comrades and compatriots who died in the Nanjing Massacre. This is the first time that the old man has returned to this land where he once fought after 77 years.

"In that year, the two brothers said that they would live with Guanghuamen."

At about 10 in the morning, in the cold wind and rain, volunteers took the elderly to Guanghuamen Anti-Japanese Fortress Ruins Park. Although he is 97 years old, the old man looks hale and hearty, and he can vaguely see the tall and burly of that year. Revisit the old place after 77 years. The old man shook his hands and stroked every brick of the fortress, crossed the corridor of time and opened the curtain of time. The old man recalled the thrilling experience of 1937 to the reporter.

At the beginning of 1934, in order to resist Japanese aggression, more than 70 high school students from Changsha went to Nanjing to join the army. At that time, Zhou Guangtian, who was 16 years old, came to Nanjing with his family and was incorporated into the military training of the teaching corps of the Central Military Academy.

Zhou Guangtian clearly remembers that at dawn on1937 65438+February 12, the Japanese concentrated their firepower and stormed the gate of Guanghuamen. The city gate was breached by the strong firepower of the Japanese army. In this battle, only two people in Zhou Guangtian's platoon were injured in the arm, but they were still in the line of fire after being bandaged by the medics, while the enemy died at the city gate. "The first battle was successful, and all the brothers were in high spirits. They all said that they would play with Guanghuamen."

However, at 6 pm, the company commander ordered the troops to immediately integrate and rush to Shimonoseki to report to Zhengzhou on the other side. This is an evacuation order. Zhou Guangtian and the whole platoon of brothers went out of the city from Guanghuamen and went straight to Yijiangmen. They didn't see a soldier or a civilian along the way. They are the last troops to retreat.

I saw more than a dozen brothers shot by the Japanese in the river.

Walking out of Yijiangmen to Xiaguan Ferry Terminal, Zhou Guangtian wanted to find a boat to take the whole platoon of brothers and weapons across the river and report to Zhengzhou, but he couldn't find a boat at the gate of Hanzhong, so he had to turn around and get off again. When I arrived at Shimonoseki, it was almost dawn. Suddenly, I saw Japanese warships approaching Yanziji, and they were using fire to hunt down the soldiers who swam across the river. At an emergency, Zhou Guangtian saw a small bamboo raft parked by the ferry terminal and immediately directed more than a dozen brothers who could not swim to board the bamboo raft and cross the river. Thirty brothers who can swim took off their cotton uniforms and swam with him.

After swimming for more than 200 meters, three small long planks came upstream, and Zhou Guangtian quickly grabbed the planks. At this time, two Japanese warships and several speedboats have arrived at the dock, rushing and attacking with fire. Zhou Guangtian quickly sank to the bottom of the ship and took his life. The small bamboo raft was rowed less than 100 meters away from the dock, and a dozen brothers on the raft were killed by enemy soldiers in the river.

12 13 At noon, Zhou Guangtian finally swam to the other side of the river and climbed the embankment. At this time, the river is full of comrades who were shot by the Japanese army, which is terrible.

"For 77 years, I haven't forgotten this history for a day."

Zhou Guangtian, who had not eaten for three days and nights, dared not sleep and rest. "I think of my mother in my hometown and the hatred that the Japanese army killed my brother. I said to myself, I must not die, but I must live! " So he gritted his teeth and walked on. He was the only one who survived in the platoon at that time.

Time passed and the smoke dispersed, but that sad history was deeply rooted in the hearts of the old people. "For 77 years, I haven't forgotten this history for a day." Zhou Guangtian said that if you forget, you will be sorry for your dead brothers and compatriots. I am also a survivor of the Nanjing Massacre. I came to Nanjing before the national public holiday to pay homage to my dead comrades and compatriots. At the same time, I also want to tell you my personal experience in those years. I hope you will not forget the history and pain, and more importantly, we should become stronger ourselves.
