Walking with Tang poetry

Chen Xiaohong

This is a romantic trip. Embark on the journey that poets in the Tang Dynasty once roamed, come to the place where Tang poetry was born, experience the poet's life and find the secrets of Tang poetry.

This is also a journey of discovery. During the journey, what kind of sparks will the poems from the Tang Dynasty collide with today's scenery and life?

The five-episode documentary "Walking with Tang Poetry" is a documentary about the integration and collision between the poems of the prosperous Tang Dynasty and the present society in terms of feelings of home and country, spiritual home and pursuit of dreams.

The five episodes of this film are based on the life track and the origin of poetry creation of poet Du Fu, landscape and pastoral poets Wang Wei, Meng Haoran, frontier poet Cen Can and poet Li Bai, with contemporary cultural scholars as "guides" and narrative methods of walking, watching and discussing, so as to take the audience to understand the "empathy" of those poets when Tang poetry came into being, the "deep love" of patriots and the "poetic life" in Tang poetry.

In the first episode of Jianghu, the poet Xichuan traces the tragic course of Du Fu from the age of 46 to the end of his life at the age of 58. In the second episode "Old Friend", calligrapher Lu Dadong searched for Meng Haoran's footprints in wuyue by walking, riding and riding. In the third episode of Chang 'an, Li Bo, a scholar, takes Chang 'an as the center, looking for the cultural map of Wang Wei's poems and exploring the poetic purport of those familiar poems. In the fourth episode "Frontier fortress", Yu Yang, a scholar, went to Xinjiang to look for the frontier fortress written by Cen Can, which reflected the pioneers' lofty aspirations and lofty sentiments in the local customs. In the fifth episode "Fairy Mountain", from Dakui Mountain to Li Bai's Cemetery, the writer Han Songluo visited several places that Li Bai had traveled in his life and had far-reaching influence, and felt the extraordinary life course of an optimistic, cheerful, romantic, sincere and frank poet.

In the film, all five scholars are very professional when they appear. For example, in Du Fu's episode, the poet Nishikawa is simple and wise, which fits the charm of middle-aged Du Fu very well. When he climbed Qingcheng Mountain, he was dressed casually, sweaty and innocent. In Longnan Village, where Du Fu once lived, he tasted the "pot of tea" cooked by the villagers with relish. In Chengdu Du Fu Caotang, he humorously cooperated with an amateur tour guide, a primary school student. In Kuizhou, when he really understood the meaning of Du Fu's writing "The Three Kingdoms Stand in the Stand, Powerful in All directions", he laughed heartily. In Zhoucun, the next night, he gracefully wrote on the blackboard and explained Du Fu's Zhoucun poems, which deeply infected the audience.

Every episode in the film is a "journey" beyond mountains and rivers, integrating history and humanities, decoding cultural genes, linking great hearts and completing exploration and discovery. Tang poetry is a brand of the times and a spiritual home that belongs to the Chinese nation alone. Du Fu, Meng Haoran, Wang Wei, Cen Can and Li Bai are all outstanding representatives of the interpretation of the "Voice of the Prosperous Tang Dynasty", and they are witnesses and creators of the culture of the Prosperous Tang Dynasty. The documentary "300 Tang Poems" presents unique artistic features in tracing back to the source;

The first is the celebrity main line and the mortal protagonist. In addition to five famous scholars, the film interviewed 64 ordinary people, including professors, scholars, primary school students, folk singers, frontier builders, post soldiers, military horse breeders, retired teachers, postmen, watch repairers, movie projectors, ordinary villagers, coal mine cadres, new media editors, homestay operators, lighthouse keepers and so on. Ordinary people tell their own life experiences and feelings, just as Yu Yang, a scholar, said, "When you go to a strange place, you meet people you have known for a long time." For example, Du Zhongliang, a primary school lecturer in Du Fu's thatched cottage, Ajie, who has been a lighthouse on the Arctic Island in Wenzhou, Zhejiang for 30 years, Zhang Xiaodong, who opened a homestay at Dalong Waterfall in Yandang Mountain, Zhang Xiaodong, a Chinese teacher who devoted himself to studying Wang Wei's Twenty Scenes after retirement, Wang Xin, a soldier who told his war horse about his lifelong friendship at Baihaba Station in Xinjiang, and descendants of Gao Ji, Li Bai's good friend in Shimengao Village, Chizhou, Anhui, and so on. All mortals show "uninvited"

The second is poetry feast and artistic enjoyment. There are about 10 Tang poems in each episode. These poems are not all familiar works, but works that can reproduce specific poems. This arrangement can not only increase the audience's reserve of Tang poetry, but also deepen the audience's understanding of the beauty and charm of Tang poetry. It is worth mentioning that the film not only interprets Tang poetry, but also interprets many art forms derived from Tang poetry in the present society. The audience can enjoy the original Tang poems sung by musicians with Tang rhyme, such as the musician Li He singing Tang poems with Kuqa folk songs, the fragment of the drama "Li Bai" performed by actor Pu Cunxin, and the introduction and performance of western musical instruments in the Tang Dynasty. These unique artistic interpretations are rare artistic enjoyment.

Third, fireworks and poetic landscape. The documentary looks back at the famous mountains and rivers, desert borders, moats and ordinary alleys in the Tang Dynasty, and feels the quiet changes that are taking place in China on the road of chasing dreams, and feels the poetry of people's lives and hearts today from the poems of poets in the Tang Dynasty. Many of them are familiar with Longnan, Chengdu, Kuizhou, Three Gorges, Big Mine, Taibai Mountain, Lushan Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, Yellow Crane Tower and Jiande River. With the Tang poetry, we will have a heartfelt sense of identity: "The Silk River, with beautiful spring, floats between the earth and heaven, just like a cloud of jade peaks, between ancient times and the present". I believe that many people will start the life journey of "all the five mountains are sacred, and I don't think far, according to the unchanging habit of my life" when the spring blossoms, because there are Tang poems leading us forward.

Fourth, poetic life and spiritual home. The narrative structure of this film is orderly and convincing. That is Du Fu's Jianghu, Meng Haoran's old friend, Wang Wei's Chang 'an, Cen Can's frontier fortress and Li Bai's fairy mountain. This arrangement not only embodies the theme of each episode, but also is a process of "realistic journey", "spiritual journey" and "dream-seeking journey" that we follow the poetic life. A Journey to Reality is the first episode of Du Fu's Jianghu. The Journey of Mind is the second episode of Meng Haoran's Old Friend and the third episode of Wang Wei's Chang 'an. The fourth episode "Cen Can Frontier" and the fifth episode "Li Bai Xian Shan" are "dream-seeking journeys".

Du Fu, who led us into the "realistic journey", lived in the turning point from prosperity to decline in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. In the days of war and displacement, he wandered in a foreign land, poor and ill. In the years of frequent suffering, as Nishikawa wrote in his poem: "Your deep love contains so much sunshine and rain;" So much sadness was finally turned into songs by you. "In the case of" dry mouth "and" How did I get wet all night? " Du Fu still issued a cry of "there are ten million spacious buildings, and the poor people in the world are happy". "

Meng Haoran and Wang Wei's pastoral poems lead us into a "spiritual journey", which is different from Tao Yuanming's and Xie Lingyun's pastoral poems: the latter uses fresh and natural landscapes to set off disheartened feelings, and loves landscapes to escape unbearable reality; The former eulogizes the love and pride of the prosperous Tang Dynasty through beautiful mountains and rivers, and loves mountains and rivers in order to join the fiery times. Meng Haoran and Wang Wei never forgot the enlightenment and responsibility of "I'm lazier than you politicians" when they were pursuing the spiritual freedom of "stop my behavior and sit and watch Yun Qi".

Cen, who led us on the "dream-seeking journey", Li Bai is a dream catcher. He firmly believes that "one day I will climb the wind and waves, and set my cloudy sail straight and bridge the deep, deep sea" and "I know the hardships of the fortress, so I can't work for my wife". Li Bai was proud, free and easy and confident all his life. "We are all lofty distant thoughts, and you want to go to the sky and embrace the bright moon". Never give up, and always keep your youthful ambition. Cen Can, a native of Jingzhou (now jiangling county, Hubei Province), chanted to the distance that "I'll hear from you when I meet you without paper and pen", and firmly believed that "how can I look down on the old when I see autumn grass in front of the flower gate?" He resolutely went to the vast distance of "Keep your word and go further west to Anxi", full of lofty aspirations of making progress and making achievements.

During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the western and northern territories were unprecedented, realizing the magnificent scene of "greeting from all directions", carrying forward the "integration of China and foreign countries", accepting cultural achievements at home and abroad, and forming an open international culture. Since Wu Zetian initiated the court examination system, talents have come forth in large numbers. The climax of Wang Zhu's life written in "Wonder Poems" in Yuan Dynasty can be found everywhere. Because of this, the poet can accept the reality, face up to his own heart, stick to his own beliefs and move forward bravely, which confirms the interpretation of Mencius scholars that "there is perseverance but no constant production". In the film, five poets sang the life experiences, joys and sorrows in their poems, which still has good enlightenment and paradigm for us to keep our feelings and pursue our dreams today.

I heard that you were far away, so I set out to travel with Tang poetry, chasing the scenery along the way and smelling like a poet. This is indeed a film "looking for clues, experiencing scenes and singing in the spirit of poetry"; Adding subjective feelings of temperature to objective records will make Tang poetry and poets not just "rigid" specimens, but vivid "pulsating" documentaries worth watching and appreciating. History is far away, and the echo is loud, "and secular things take turns, ancient and modern, back and forth." The glory of rivers and mountains remains unchanged, and it can be proved from now on. "

Go back to the place where the Tang poetry took place and look at the changing mountains and rivers. Let the Tang poetry go through the Millennium, illuminate our mountains and rivers today and our road, and become our strength to move forward. (Author: Northwest Normal University)
