It comes from "The Silkworm Woman" by Zhang Yu, a poet from the Song Dynasty.
1. Original text:
"Silkworm Woman"
Song Dynasty? Zhang Yu
I entered the city yesterday and came back full of tears.
Those who are covered with silkworms are not silkworm farmers.
2. Interpretation: A woman who lives in the countryside and raises silkworms for a living went to the town yesterday to go to the market and sell silk. When she came back, she was in tears, and her handkerchief was soaked with sad tears. Because the people she saw in the market, all dressed in beautiful silk clothes, were not hard-working silkworm farmers like her at all.
3. Appreciation: The first two sentences of the poem describe the sadness of the silkworm woman. The woman went to the city yesterday to sell silk, but when she came back she was crying. "Tears full of scarves" can show the depth of the silkworm woman's emotional stimulation. The poet uses simple language to silently reveal the extreme injustice of society. Through the narration of the experience and feelings of a silkworm woman, it expresses deep sympathy for the situation of the lower class working people. There is not a word of discussion in the poem, but it silently accuses the image of working women who make a living by raising silkworms and live in remote villages. When Silkworm Woman came to the city for the first time, she discovered the source of her lifelong poverty. No wonder she felt sad and cried bitterly. The silkworm woman's demeanor, knowledge, and feelings are all written vividly and with flesh and blood. With such a detail of life, she deeply exposes the extreme irrationality of the feudal social system. The intention is profound and the conception is clever, showing the poet's keen insight into life. and high generalization ability.
The last two sentences reveal that the silkworm woman was sad because of the unreasonable social reality of getting something without working, and working without getting anything. The silkworm woman cried bitterly because she saw that the people wearing silk clothes in the city were all powerful and wealthy people. Working people like her will not be able to wear beautiful silk clothes even if they raise silkworms for a lifetime. The poet uses obvious contrasting techniques to summarize the reality of class opposition in feudal society and expose the unreasonable reality of rulers getting something for nothing, which is extremely convincing.
