Xu Zhimo, a famous modern poet and essayist of China Crescent School, is also the cousin of Jin Yong, a famous martial arts novelist. Xu Zhimo was born in a wealthy family and studied in Britain. The lifelong pursuit of "love", "freedom" and "beauty" (Hu Shi's words) has brought him a lot of creative inspiration and ruined his life.
Xu Zhimo advocated the metrical form of new poetry and made important contributions to the development of China's new poetry. Xu Zhimo participated in all the activities of the Crescent School, and his creation embodied the distinctive characteristics of the Crescent School. It took about ten years from the establishment of Crescent Society to the gradual formation of a literary school-Crescent School, in which Xu Zhimo always played an important role.

Crescent School is an important school in the history of modern new poetry. Influenced by Tagore's Crescent Collection, it is divided into two periods with 1927 as the boundary.
