The Yangtze River splits the Tianmen Peak like a giant axe, and the green river flows around the island. The green hills on both sides are neck and neck, and a boat meets leisurely from the horizon.
Interpretation of poetry
This poem depicts the magnificent scenery of Tianmen Mountain. The "Tianmen" in the poem refers to Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province. Its gate towering into the sky, split from the middle, shaped like a portal, hence the name. The poem begins with "Tianmen breaks the Chu River", which means that Tianmen Mountain breaks the basin of the Chu River, and the Chu River flows down from Tianmen Mountain, forming a magnificent scene of clear water flowing eastward. The poem also wrote that "the green hills on both sides of the strait are opposite", describing that the green hills on both sides of Tianmen Mountain are surrounded, which is particularly magnificent. The last sentence, "A solitary sail is coming from the sun", is about a lonely sailing boat coming slowly in the afterglow of the sunset, adding a poetic flavor to the whole scenery.
