Appreciation of Cui Gongwei's Ci

Gong Wei Cicui Guo Fu

Red makeup in the sun,

Plan to go to Tongquetai.

Thrushcross is still there,

Emperor Wei makes people flock to him.

Appreciation of Cui's poems

Gong Wei's Ci is a profound political satire. On the surface, it condemns the scandal in Wei Wendi Palace, but in fact it refers to the "indecent behavior" of Tang Xuanzong's occupation of his daughter-in-law.

Li Mao, the son of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, married his wife Yang Yuhuan. Later, Yuhuan was occupied by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and was canonized as a imperial concubine. It takes a lot of courage to expose this in the form of poetry. The poet Cui used the story of emperor Cao Pi to put himself in the ugly soul of Xuanzong in Tang Dynasty and lashed it, which effectively revealed the decadent nature of feudal emperors.

In his later years, Cao Cao built a bronze sparrow terrace and accepted beautiful concubines for his lewdness. After his death, his son Cao Pi took over his father's position in Tongquetai and took his father's concubines as his own. This poem is made up of this matter. In the first two sentences of the poem, Cao Cao's concubines are busy dressing up as soon as they get up in the morning, ready to accompany Cao Pi on the bronze sparrow terrace. In the last two sentences, Xelloss couldn't wait for his father and concubine to get dressed, so he sent someone to urge them to try. Although Cao Pi did not appear in the poem, his ugly soul has been brilliantly outlined. Cui Neng skillfully uses the ancient to satirize the present and emphasizes the implicit beauty of poetry, leaving readers with a broad space for thinking and association.
