In the Russian textbooks we usually study, and in the books about Russian pronunciation and intonation by Zhao Zuoying and Xu Zhenxin, there seem to be six tones. Recently I got to know a senior, Yuan Changzai from the Russian School of Heilongjiang University. He said that there are nine tones, which he summed up. His monograph on this aspect is currently on sale at Xidan Book Building. He recently won the first prize in the domestic final language social category in the 4th Russian Style Competition. The tone of the poems he read was truly amazing. In October, he will go to Vladivostok to participate in the finals.
