Zhang Guangnian (1913-2002) went by the pseudonym Guang Weiran. A native of Laohekou, Hubei Province. Member of the Communist Party of China. In 1935, he graduated from the Chinese Department of Zhonghua University in Wuchang. In his early years, he was engaged in anti-Japanese and national salvation literary and artistic activities. He served as the president of the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Qiu Sheng Drama Club, the leader of the Pioneer Theater Troupe, the director of the Special Branch of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in the Third Department of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the National Government, and the editor-in-chief of "New Knowledge Weekly" in Yangon, Myanmar, Myanmar. General leader of the Overseas Chinese Youth Fighter Team, editor-in-charge of the Peking edition of "Democracy Weekly", and served successively as director of education and creative office of the Central Academy of Drama after 1949, deputy director of the Art Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, editor-in-chief of the monthly "Script", and party group of the Chinese Dramatists Association. Secretary, Secretary of the Secretariat, Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Chinese Writers Association, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Writers Association, Editor-in-chief of "Literary News" and "People's Literature", member of the Central Advisory Committee, President of the Chinese Literary Heart and Diaolong Society, No. 1 of the Chinese Writers Association Five-term Honorary Vice Chairman. Began publishing works in 1936. Joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1949.
