Liu Yong is meticulous in being an official, but also because he is grateful to the emperor for receiving his kindness. So when dealing with many things, his approach is very different from that of ordinary officials.
In the spring of the 26th year of Qianlong (176 1), Yan Dayong, a 57-year-old diploma officer from Guo Jian, Pei County, Jiangsu Province, took it out on officials because the government apportioned food, refused to distribute food and cursed officials. Afterwards, he ran away from home for fear of government retaliation, but was soon arrested and imprisoned by the government.
As a Guo-zi-jian diploma, Yan Dayong doesn't know the truth, so he should be punished more severely. During the trial of Yan Dayong by the government, Liu Yong, a scholar in charge of student education in Jiangsu, also participated in the trial of the case. His attention is not on the case itself, but on whether the undisciplined Guo-zi-jian diploma broke the law.
After careful investigation, Liu Yong learned that he likes to write poems on weekdays, and found two manuscripts from home, as well as manuscripts written by his grandfather Yan and uncle Yan Qi. More importantly, Liu Yong also learned that Yan Dayong burned his book. Liu Yong suspected that there must be rebellious words in Yan Dapu's poems, otherwise why burn them? So Liu Yong told the Governor Chen Hongmou about his visit and carefully studied the manuscript he got. When he met the words that he thought were problematic, he directly sealed the ruling of Ganlong Yuguan.
On May 29, after receiving the report and manuscript from Liu Yong, Qianlong attached great importance to it and immediately sent an imperial edict to AG, acting governor of Liangjiang, and Chen Hongmou, governor of Jiangsu Province, to scrutinize it, saying:
"According to Liu Yong, Yan Dayong, a Guo-zi-jian diploma in Peixian County, refused to accept food, falsely accused officials of escaping, and seized an unsolved case in the name of Xuanjing. Because of his unusual situation, he found out two pieces of poetry of the prisoner, moved a copy of his grandfather Yan and Qi's manuscript and Yan's indictment, pasted it and presented it, asking if there were any poems left in the prisoner's home. Yan Dayong's refusal to send grain overseers is abhorrent, culpable of punishment, and should not be tolerated. To understand the title of the manuscript, it seems to me that it is just stupid and ignorant, without any rebellious language. If his ancestors, Bo and other poems are implicated, the case will be decided by disobedience, but the case will be regarded as a misdemeanor first, and the reasons for his burning and disappearance have not been ascertained. Not only is this not enough to convince the offenders, but the public may turn to suspect that it is harsh, and it is not my intention to use it to allow the truth. Besides, the word "burn" is also a speculative word. If the offender says the fruit is absurd, even if he destroys it in advance, God forbid, he will never let it disappear and escape the law. There is no one or two that cannot be sold, that is, those who leave it elsewhere and let it be exposed. In this case, the situation is tense. The key is that the governor is willing to do things in a down-to-earth manner and is willing to study them in detail. If there are signs of anti-DPRK, they should be dealt with strictly. I copied the manuscript, stuck it on AG and Chen Hongmou, and asked them to be rigorous, interview carefully, judge whether the prisoner's poem was left behind, and draft it according to law. "
At that time, at the beginning of the banned books, the case of Yan Dayong was exposed in Liuyong. The emperor asked, how dare AG, governor of Liangjiang, and others not deal with it seriously? Therefore, after the Qianlong imperial edict arrived in Jiangsu, Su Ting Governor Chen Hongmou and AG and others immediately began to interrogate Yan Dayong to see if the book he burned violated the imperial edict.
Under the interrogation of Chen Hongmou and others, Yan Dayong confessed that he really bought his "rare book" in his thirties. Because her mother has never been married since she lost her husband at the age of 24, Pei County Records did not list her as a filial person, and some people who should not be listed had it from the beginning, and Yan was dissatisfied. In treatise on febrile diseases, she satirized the injustice recorded in county annals. Soon, someone reported this activity to Li Tang, the magistrate of a county at that time. Li Tang immediately sent someone to detain Yan Dayong to the government, reprimanded him, and recovered and burned the printed version. After seven years of Qianlong, Li Tang was dismissed and returned to his hometown in Shandong, but things did not expand.
AG and Chen Hongmou, after learning this situation, thought that Yan Dayong had not fully explained the facts. They think that if there is something wrong with the only one in Pei County Song Collection, why should it be destroyed if it is to be replaced? In addition, Li Tang did not leave a file when handling this case. Maybe there are other rebellious sentences in the book. Li Tang destroyed the whole book to avoid trouble.
However, Yan Dayong and Yan Dayong firmly denied it.
In order to thoroughly understand the contents of the collection, AG and Chen Hongmou, on the one hand, asked Gan Long to order Shandong Governor Altay to send someone to Su Ting to explain the deposed Li Tang, on the other hand, they sent people to visit the collection seriously. Officials from AG and Chen Hongmou tried their best to make unannounced visits and finally found two books left by the people. After reading it all night, the governor found Yan's words, or satirizing officials, or resentful, or crazy and disobedient. Obviously, this situation and "Song Collection" were immediately reported to Ganlong.
On June 25th, after receiving the report from AG and others, Gan Long was furious and immediately wrote in the manuscript: "If the plot is so bad, we should follow Lv Liuliang's example!" That is to say, to be involved, to be killed!
However, Ganlong knew in his heart that Yan Dayong's case of resisting grain and refusing grain was caused by extra grain distributed by local officials in response to Ganlong's 27-year southern tour. He suddenly killed people before his southern tour, which was not harmonious with the prosperous tour. So he didn't want to expand the situation, which caused the tension of Jiangnan scholars. Therefore, after he wholesaled Gao Jin's memorial, he soon issued an imperial edict prohibiting others from being implicated. The imperial edict said: "According to the high-Jin drama" Yan Dayong ",criminals are cynical, indignant, and don't even avoid temple taboos, and they have crazy and rude remarks. If the situation is so bad, we should follow Lv Liuliang's example, as stated in the book. After reading the original, it is not as rebellious as Lv Liuliang's. Although he doesn't shy away from temples, he can be said to be ignorant in the countryside. But the pen and tongue of the criminals in the book are all unscrupulous slanders. If he indulges his aunt, these gangsters don't know how to change. Instead, they will investigate and punish him, allow him to do whatever he wants, and he will be bound to join the Lv Liuliang faction. The criminal must not stay, he will tell AG and others. In addition, there is no need to push around like Lv Liuliang to make the plants tired. "
In mid-July, the case of collecting wind in Yan Dayong was concluded, Yan Dayong was killed, and his family was also affected to varying degrees. Tang Li, a former magistrate of a county, was exempted from investigation because of his death. At that time, AG, Chen Hongmou and others were eager to report the trial results to Qianlong as soon as possible, and they beat them for four hundred miles with post horses, which was reprimanded by Qianlong. In the imperial edict of July 16th, Qianlong said:
"Today, AG and Chen Hongmou entered the DPRK, and the four hundred-mile post played it. I mean, it's raining now, and I'm afraid the river workers may have washed it. This is important reading, but this is only the case of Yan Dayong and a magistrate. As usual, such activities will not be delayed, so why use post horses? I don't know the weight. AG and Chen Hongmou wrote an edict. " AG and Chen Hongmou were supposed to kiss each other's ass, but they also got a rebuff.
Facts have shown that there can be no mistakes in matters of principle. This is very important for officials and businessmen.
