Yishui: The name of the water, which is the Yihe River in Yixian County, Hebei Province today. At the end of the Warring States Period, the Qin State suppressed its territory with powerful troops, and the Yan State was in danger. In order to repay the kindness of Prince Dan of Yan, the strong man Jing Ke was determined to assassinate the King of Qin regardless of hardships. On the day of departure, Prince Dan and others saw Jing Ke off by the Yishui River. When Gao Jianli was building the building, Jing Ke sang loudly: "The wind is rustling and the water is cold, and the strong men will never come back once they are gone." The song is passionate and the feelings are tragic. "The men are all stunned, and the crowns of their fingers are raised." From then on, Yishui and Jingke's tragic song were recorded in the annals of history, and became famous throughout the ages. Yan Dan: refers to Prince Dan of the Yan Kingdom during the Warring States Period.
Appreciation
This is the generous tragic song of a strong man who went to the tiger's den and knew that he would not survive.
There are only two sentences in the whole poem. The first sentence describes the environment when parting, the bleak autumn wind, the cold Yishui, a solemn and desolate atmosphere. The description of the scenery is permeated with the singer's emotions. The second sentence expresses the hero's dedication without hesitation.
The language of this poem is very simple and concise. It uses scenes to express emotions and blends scenes. It is a masterpiece in ancient Chinese poetry.
Jing Ke got his name from this, and the two short lines of the poem will last forever. The difficulty in expressing majestic emotions in poetry lies in being convincing rather than being arrogant and exaggerated; it is in being able to express the more permanent and universal sentiments hidden behind the temporary feelings rather than in the momentary impulse. Perhaps tragic words are often used emotionally, and it is difficult for people to distinguish truth from falsehood when they are emotional, so the words not only deceive others, but also deceive themselves. Many works that are exciting at the moment are boring when you read them afterwards. It is precisely because of the performance that you deceive yourself. "Song of Yishui", with its two gentle lines, has become an eternal masterpiece. When we read it, we must know Jing Ke's life experience. This is the universality of art, which transcends time and space and appeals to the eternal sentiment.
Jing Ke’s behavior has received mixed reviews since ancient times. Some people say that Jing Ke was a strong man who sacrificed his life for righteousness, some said that he was an insignificant outlaw, and some said that he was a terrorist in ancient China.
