Liu Yuxi (772-842), courtesy name Mengde, was of Han nationality and was a native of Luoyang (now Luoyang, Henan) in the Tang Dynasty of China. He claimed that he was "originally in Xingshang, and his native place was in Luoyang" and that he was from Zhongshan (today's Dingzhou, Hebei). He was preceded by Liu Sheng, King Jing of Zhongshan, and in his later years he called himself a native of Lushan. Liu Yuxi became a Jinshi in the ninth year of Zhenyuan (793). At the beginning, he served as the record office in the shogunate of Du You, the governor of Huainan, and was highly regarded by Du You. Later, he entered the court from Du You and became the censor. At the end of Zhenyuan, Liu Zongyuan, Chen Jian, Han Ye and others made friends with Wang Shuwen and formed a political group headed by Wang Shuwen. Later he served as the Sima of Langzhou, the governor of Lianzhou, the governor of Kuizhou, the governor of Hezhou, the chief guest doctor, the doctor of the Ministry of Rites, and the governor of Suzhou. Liu Yuxi's last term was the guest of the prince, so the collection of poems and essays titled "Liu Guest Collection" was written by later generations.

Bai Juyi praised him as "Liu Mengde from Pengcheng, a great poet", so Liu Yuxi was also known as the "poetry hero" in the Mid-Tang Dynasty. He was an outstanding politician, philosopher, poet and prose writer in the Mid-Tang Dynasty. Home. Liu Yuxi and Bai Juyi are both called "Liu Bai". Together with Liu Zongyuan, he is also known as "Liu Liu". Liu Mengde from Pengcheng is also a great poet. It has a sharp edge, and few dare to take it.
