Classical poetry generally refers to the poems written in ancient China with five or seven words as the basic meter, while Qinyuanchun Changsha adopts the free meter form of modern poetry. So strictly speaking, it does not belong to the traditional category of ancient poetry.
Nevertheless, as an influential poem, Qinyuanchun Changsha still deserves our study and appreciation. It expresses the poet's deep affection for his hometown by depicting the natural scenery of Changsha. Therefore, it is a very valuable work from both literary and historical perspectives.
