The Scottish Poetry Festival is held once a year in the historic town of St. Andrews, Scotland. It is the only pure poetry festival held in Scotland as scheduled. As the best poetry festival in Scotland, it was international from the beginning. In fact, this is a celebration of poetry. StAnza was founded in 1998 by three poets in Santangelo: Brian Johns Tong and Anna Crowe, and the chairman of the foundation, Gavin Balder. The first poetry festival opened on the Scottish National Poetry Day that year and was warmly welcomed by the audience. From then until 2003, this festival was held every year in 10, but in 2003, when Brian Johns Tong cooperated with Anna Crowe and directed it, it was changed to spring. Since then, the scale has been expanding, and it is now considered as the main poetry activity in Scotland, attracting audiences at home and abroad.
An important purpose of StAnza festival is to bring the best Scottish poetry to the audience. Over the years, many famous poets have joined in, including john boyne Side, Kate Clancy, Stuart Kang En, robert crawford, Carol-Ann Duffy, Douglas Dunn, Catherine Jamie, Jackie Kay, Liz Lochhead, Aonghas Macneacail, edwin morgan, Don Patterson and Alistair Reid. In addition, there are many poets from all over the world, including Australian, Jamaican, Canadian and Tunisia. From the beginning, the festival has integrated talk shows, speeches, discussions and other seminars, including editors, publishers, poetry critics and scholars, as well as a series of seminars for adults and children. In recent years, this field has been further developed with a series of lectures, "Meeting Poets" and the development of excellent poetry courses.
