William Wang (date of birth and death unknown) was born in Jinyang (now Taiyuan, Shanxi). In the first year of Jing Yun, Tang Ruizong (7 10), he passed the imperial examination. He worked as a driver, foreign minister and driver in Zhou Xian (now Henan). Finally, he was demoted to Sima in Daozhou (now Hunan) and died anywhere. William Wang's temperament is unrestrained, and he likes to make friends with the scribes and drink and have fun. He wrote many poems, but not many have been handed down. The Complete Poems of Tang Dynasty recorded a volume of his poems, with only fourteen poems. The most famous frontier poems are Liangzhou Ci.
Liangzhou song
Wine luminous glass, want to drink pipa, hurry up immediately.
Drunk lying on the battlefield, you don't laugh, there have been several wars in ancient times.
Liangzhou Ci, Yuefu Qu, is the same as Wang Zhihuan's Liangzhou Ci. The desolate and hard environment in the border area and the tense and turbulent campaign life make it difficult for frontier soldiers to get a happy banquet. Fortunately, I met once, and it is not difficult to imagine the passion and excitement, as well as the scene of drinking and getting drunk. This poem is a portrayal of this kind of life and feelings. The wine in the poem is rich in the western regions; Cup, according to legend, is a glass refined from white jade in the West Lake in Zhou Muwang era, which looks like "night lamp", so it is called "night lamp cup"; The musical instrument is the pipa used by Hu people; There are also words like "battlefield" and "battle". All this clearly shows a strong frontier fortress color and the style of military camp life. The first sentence of the poem uses narrative poetry, which not only describes the big scene of frontier fortress soldiers drinking, but also depicts the details, borrowing mythical words to make people smell like wine, and see it like wine. The second sentence, followed by the last sentence, shows that these soldiers heard the rapid pipa playing when they raised their glasses, which shows the unique style of the military camp in the western regions. The third and fourth sentences are about the attitude of frontier fortress soldiers when they are drunk. It not only shows bold, cheerful and excited feelings, but also shows the courage to die. The language of poetry is lively, the rhythm is ups and downs, and the emotions reflected are unrestrained and fanatical, showing an infectious artistic atmosphere. This is one of the reasons why this poem has been told by people for thousands of years.
