Content: Words are the heart, the heart is the ambition, and words are the sound. Literary creation originates from inner true feelings. Poetry is beautiful because of love. Emotion and righteousness belong to the content category, and emotion is the foundation and pillar of poetry, just like the seeds of plants; Righteousness is the fruit and profound connotation of poetry.
Form: Emotion alone is not enough. Poetry should also emphasize appropriate language, proper rhyme and profound meaning. Phonetics and harmony belong to the category of form. Words are like seedlings, and sounds are flowers.
Both content and form are indispensable. Only when the roots are deep will the seedlings grow strong and colorful; Without seedlings and flowers, there will be no fruitful results. Only when form and content are perfectly unified can there be a good poem.
This sentence also reveals the multi-level structure of the text: the text is roughly divided into voice layer, image layer and semantic layer, and each layer is indispensable. Poetry is their perfect combination.
Without content, it won't spread far and wide. That's what Confucius meant when he spoke politely.
