Li Qingzhao, titled Eight Wings Building
The eternal romantic eight wings, Jiangshan left behind.
The water runs three thousand miles south, and the barometric river covers fourteen states.
Eight Chants on the Tower is a seven-character quatrain created by Li Qingzhao. It was written at the same time as Li Qingzhao's famous poem Wuling Chun, both during Du Nan's refuge in Jinhua. In content, poems all involve "worry". However, Li Qingzhao lamented the sadness of wandering, which was extremely sad and beautiful. The so-called "things are human beings, and tears flow first."
In this song named "Bayong Loutai", Li Qingzhao is lamenting the depression of the Song Dynasty and worrying about the country. However, she exudes heroism from sadness. At the beginning of the poem, she wrote an eternal famous sentence, "The Eight Wing Building is an affair, and the mountains and rivers are left behind." This kind of worry about state affairs is not limited to time and space, but is a worry at all times and in all countries.
The first sentence, "Eight Wings Building", can be said to be the most vivid sentence describing architecture in ancient poetry. Bayong Building, formerly known as Yuanchang Building, was a scenic spot in Song Wuzhou (now Jinhua, Zhejiang) at that time. When Li Qingzhao said that it was romantic through the ages, naturally it didn't just mean that it could promote the prosperity of literati. It is more closely related to the second sentence, "Jiangshan stays, and the future troubles are endless."
Throughout Li Qingzhao's poems, the worries involved are great suffering, great sorrow and great sorrow, which are inseparable from her life experience, mainly the historical environment. Bianjing fell, the Northern Song Dynasty perished, and the Imperial House Jiankang and Hangzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty once fell. This made Li Qingzhao deeply feel that there was no security guarantee for the great rivers and mountains in the Southern Song Dynasty, so he issued an eternal lament that "the rivers and mountains can't stay, and future generations are worried".
The last two sentences, "The water reaches 3,000 miles to the south, and the barometric river reaches 14 states", mean that the dense waterway can penetrate more than 3,000 miles to the south of the Yangtze River, and its strategic position is enough to affect the survival of 14 states in the south of the Yangtze River. The fourteen States here are borrowed from the poem "Send Money to Father" written by Guan Xiu, a monk in the late Tang Dynasty, which reads "Three thousand guests are drunk and fourteen States are cold with a sword". Guan Xiu is a native of Lanxi, Wuzhou, and there is another story about his fourteen states.
It is said that when Qian Liu called Yue, Guan Xiu sent a poem to congratulate him, but Qian Liu wanted to be emperor and asked Guan Xiu to change "fourteen states" to "forty states" before he could receive him. Guan Xiu left "the country is difficult to add, the poem is difficult to change" and left. Later, Guan Xiu was treated by Wang Jian, a former Shu, and was honored as the "Master of Zen Moon". Guan Xiu would rather leave his hometown for Sichuan than change "fourteen states" into "forty states" easily. What Li Qingzhao said here is obviously mocking the Southern Song Dynasty imperial court, which did not hesitate to lose its territory.
Although this poem by Li Qingzhao was eight or nine hundred years ago, it still has a lingering aftertaste, and you can still feel her heroic spirit after reading it, which is shocking. "The Eight-Wing Building is full of charm through the ages, and the mountains and rivers are left behind." These two famous words are both amazing and thought-provoking.
