Before the founding of New China, there were not many Chinese translations of Shelley's works, only Selected Poems of Shelley translated by Guo Moruo (Shanghai Taidong Bookstore 1926), Poetry Debate translated by Wu Yifu (Commercial Press 1937) and Serenade translated by Li Yuenan (Shanghai Zhengfeng Bookstore, 65437)
Shelley's first translation climax in China appeared in 1950s and 1960s. 1957, his most important four-act poetic drama Prometheus Liberated was published by People's Literature Publishing House and translated by famous writer Shao. This version was later reprinted by Shanghai Translation Publishing House at 1987. At the same time, Shao also translated Shelley's first long poem Queen Mabu, but for various reasons, it was not published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House until 1983.
From 65438 to 0957, the poetic drama Greece translated by Yang Xiling was published by Shanghai New Literature and Art Publishing House. A year later, Selected Lyrics of Shelley and Lark translated by Cha were published by People's Literature Publishing House. They are all masters of poetry translation, especially Zha's translation, which has always been favored by readers and publishing circles. His selected poems include ode to the west wind and most of Shelley's masterpieces.
After the Cultural Revolution, Shelley's translation thoughts reappeared. 198 1 year, Yang Xiling also translated an anthology of Shelley's lyric poems, which was published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House. A few years later, the agency also released Chyi Chin, a five-act drama translated by Tang Yongkuan, which is the second edition of 1962. In 1990s, Wu Di and Jiang Feng translated two versions of Shelley. The former was published by Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House 1994, while the latter was published by Hunan Literature and Art Publishing House 1996.
In 2000, the Chinese translation of Shelley's works reached a peak. Hebei Education Press published a set of 7-volume Complete Works of Shelley, including poems, dramas, novels, essays, literary theories, letters and other works, totaling more than 3 million words. The book is edited by Jiang Feng, translated and proofread by famous translators such as Tu An and others. According to the report of that year, this set of books mostly adopted new translations, which took seven years to complete, and was called "the most complete collection of Shelley's works in China".
