In the past, Beihouji, an old shop in Jinan, sold a kind of pickled radish and pickles, named "hemp fiber radish", which has not been seen for many years.
Beihouji was originally a private enterprise that produced soy sauce, vinegar, pickles and other non-staple foods. The original site was located in the south of Jiangjiachi, opposite to the telecom building, and was demolished due to the widening of the road. Before the demolition, there was a stone signboard above the door plaque of Beihouji, engraved with the words "Our refined yellow rice sake and sun-dried soy sauce", and on the gable leading to Jiangjiachi, it was engraved with the words "Home food, everything is available, and it is issued correctly". Soy sauce, rice wine, pickles and seasonings produced here are well known.

This is also the source of a two-part allegorical saying in Jinan, which is called "the radish in the North Garden-semi-green", describing a person who is not comprehensive, stable and immature. Cut the head and tail of the radish with a knife, but do not completely remove the tail, wash and dry. Then cut dozens of knives horizontally and vertically with a knife, so that it becomes a plurality of small square radish strips, but it is not cut through and cut off, and the tail is left, and it is still a whole radish without shaking it off. After cutting, bind the cut radish with a clean straw, put it in a pickle jar, and then take it out for sale.
when the buyer eats, he can untie the straw, take the radish (tail) in one hand, break off a strip in the other hand and fill it in his mouth. Because a radish becomes a plurality of radish strips, and when it is shaken by hand, it appears multi-headed and uneven, so it is named hemp fiber radish.
