Ye Jiaying said in Ye Jiaying's poems of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties: "There are basically three kinds of feelings written in Nineteen Ancient Poems: feelings of parting, feelings of frustration and feelings of worrying about life".
The poem "Picking Hibiscus on the River" reflects the painful feelings of parting and lovesickness. In particular, the sentence "Looking back at my hometown is a long way" is beautifully written. As if telepathy, while the hostess misses her husband alone, the distant husband is looking back at his hometown with infinite sadness at the moment. This technique can be summarized as the traditional techniques of "subject-object shift", "side writing" and "other writing", which were adopted in many later poems.
The whole poem consists of eight sentences, which constitute a clue of emotional walking: traveling with worries-asking questions with lotus roots-remembering the long years-dying with sorrow. From the beginning of sadness, I unconsciously walked back to the original place. This route is closed. The whole article constitutes a cyclical emotional dilemma, which aims to appeal to the author to find it forever and never get rid of it, but the sad feelings are combed into an unbreakable knot, which is extremely sad and inseparable.
Nineteen Ancient Poems was praised not only for its position in the history of literature, but also for its inspiring power.
Du Fu said, poetry is born, and it is occasionally acquired by skillful hands. Nineteen Ancient Poems, like the Book of Songs, embodies a kind of beauty of "clear water gives birth to hibiscus, which is naturally carved".
