The name "Black Tiger Spring" first appeared on the famous spring tablet in Jin Dynasty. The source of the name is the original "Black Tiger Temple" on the shore; Some people say that it is named after the "water shock column, the sound is like a tiger roaring", so this spring is a natural cave. There is a huge stone lying on it, covered with moss, which looks like a hidden tiger. The spring water gushed out from under the boulder and collided violently. In the middle of the night, the north wind blew into the crevice of the stone gap, which looked like a tiger roar, so it was called Black Tiger Spring.
Jin's Quanming North, Ming's Poetry of Seventy-two Springs and Qing's Collection of Seventy-two Springs are all recorded. The poem "Black Tiger Spring in Jinan Seventy-two Springs" written by a poet in the Ming Dynasty vividly describes the sound and appearance of this spring: "Shipan Shuifu is pale in color and as deep as a black lake; In the middle of the night, the wind blows and the stone cracks, and there is no light in the clear moon. "This spring is named after its unique sound and appearance. Black Tiger Spring is located in the south bank of the south moat of Jiefangge, Lixia District, Jinan City. It is one of the three spring groups in the world's first spring 5A scenic spot.
Black Tiger Spring is one of the "Seventy-two Famous Springs" in Jinan, which is listed in Jin Dynasty stele, Ming Dynasty Yan Bi's Poem of Seventy-two Springs and Qing Dynasty Hao Zhigong's Collection of Seventy-two Springs, ranking first among the "Black Tiger Springs".
