The original text and translation of Zhuangzi's "Autumn Waters"

The original text and translation of Zhuangzi's "Autumn Waters" are as follows:

Original text:

When the autumn water comes, hundreds of rivers will flow into it. The Jingliu River is so big that there are no cattle or horses between the two Zhuzhu cliffs. Then, He Bo was happy and thought that all the beauty in the world was his own. Go eastward with the current and reach the North Sea.

Looking to the east, you can’t see the water end. Then, He Bo began to turn his face, looked at the ocean and sighed: "There is a wild saying: 'When you hear the Tao, you think you can't be as good as yourself.' That's what I mean. And I have heard about Shao Zhongni. I heard that those who underestimate Boyi's righteousness are the first to believe me. Now I see that my son is in trouble, and I will be in danger if I don't live in his family. I have always laughed at the generous family."

Translation :

Autumn rain comes with the arrival of the season, and thousands of streams flow into the Yellow River. The water flow on the river suddenly widened, making it impossible to distinguish between the two banks and the sandbar from a distance, even if it was a cow or a horse on the other side. So He Bo, the God of the Yellow River, was very proud, thinking that all the good things in the world were his own.

Appreciation:

The world is the phenomenon of Tao in the heart. How big the human heart is, so is the world. When Baixi entered the river, it was a magnificent sight and majestic. He Bo was so proud that no one could compare with him. Until I see the North Sea, I can only look at the ocean and sigh, realizing my own shallowness and ignorance.

The human mind should remain open and become an open system; it should not sit in a well and look at the sky, draw a picture of the earth as a prison, be proud and complacent, and rest on its laurels. Gou is new every day, new every day.

Every day you can learn new knowledge, comprehend new wisdom, and become a new self. If you can awaken yourself, it will be like a phoenix rising from the ashes, reborn from the ashes, seeing your true nature, finding your true self, getting rid of the limitations of fate, finding your own right path in life, and living a truly free life.

Laozi said: Those who maintain this way do not want to be full, but they are not full, so they can be broken and made new. People should not be arrogant and complacent, but should be open-minded, let the mind be in an ethereal state, wait for things, and listen to the sounds of nature; remain in awe of the unknown mysteries, and this is also known to saints. In front of the saint, we are all ignorant children.

Looking up at the high mountain, even though I cannot reach it, my heart yearns for it. Although you are only at the foot of the mountain, you can still feel the majestic mountains, shrouded in clouds and mist, and the myriad weather conditions. Life is about finding a path, choosing a path, and creating a path.

Life is about being yourself, having your own thoughts, and having a spiritual home; life is about finding your own origin and destination, appreciating the beauty of all things, understanding the mystery of the Tao, and becoming one with the Tao. The mind has infinite possibilities, tolerance and pioneering, and so does life.
