Introduction to baptism
The main part of the baptism ceremony is that the baptist pours water on the head of the baptized person and reads the following scripture: So-and-so, I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. From the early days of the church to the14th century, the way to pay for baptism was usually to let the baptized person immerse himself in the water, with only his head above the water. Then he presided over the baptist meeting, immersed the head of the baptized person in water three times and read the above scripture at the same time.
This is called immersion baptism. Although the significance of washing, death and resurrection symbolized by this immersion baptism is obvious, there are also many inconveniences, so water injection is often used in the church. Generally speaking, the baptist is a priest, but in an emergency, if he is a dying person who is willing to be baptized, anyone can be baptized according to the main baptism part set by Jesus.
According to the current method, most parishes choose to baptize adult Taoists on Easter Eve every year. This is determined according to the significance of the annual festivals and rituals of the church. Easter is a day to commemorate the resurrection and rebirth of Jesus from the dead. Taoist priests are baptized by Christ, from death to eternal life.
