Wang Ji (date of birth and death unknown), courtesy name Wenhai, was born in Langye Linyi (now north of Linyi City, Shandong Province). Liang people in the Southern Dynasties. He is well-known in the history of Wangji poetry for his poem "Enter the Ruoye River". There is literary talent but no ambition. At the end of Qi Dynasty, he joined the army as a champion and moved to the Foreign Soldier Record Office. Xiao Yi, the last king of Xiangdong in Liang Tianjian, proposed to join the army and move to the central government to disperse the officials. On the poetry of Wang Ji, "Southern History·Biography of Wang Ji" states that people at that time said that Kang Le had Wang Ji, such as Zhong Ni had Qiu Ming, and Lao Dan had Zhuang Zhou.
Biography
Wang Ji was born into a noble family. His grandfather, Wang Yuan, was Guang Luxun in the Song Dynasty; his father, Sengyou, was General Qi Xiaoqi. Considered prominent. At the age of seven, Wang Ji was born in the literary category. When he grew up, he was eager to learn, knowledgeable and literary. Ren Fang from Le'an called it upon seeing it. I got "Yong Zhu" from Zuo Fu, which was highly praised. Ren Fang was famous for his writing style, and Shen Yue was famous for his poetry. They led the literary world successively. Their rewards must be an important reason for Wang Ji's fame. Therefore, at the end of the Qi Dynasty, he joined the army for the championship and moved to the foreign soldiers and recording office. After entering the Liang Dynasty, at the beginning of the Tianjian period, in addition to the chief secretary of King Ancheng and the third prince of the Shangshu, Ting Weizheng (the original biography of "Liang Shu") was appointed.
Since his official career was not satisfactory, Wang Jixin took a leisurely trip to the mountains and rivers. For this reason, he was demoted while serving in Yuyao and Qiantang. Xiao Yi, king of eastern Hunan, guarded Kuaiji and was invited to join the army for consultation. During this period, he often traveled to the Yunmen and Tianzhu mountains in the territory, and sometimes he would not return for months. This is the legacy of He, Xie An and others who took refuge in Dongshan and indulged in the mountains and rivers. The poem "Into the Ruoye River" was written during this period. The boat is so vast, the water is empty and long. The clouds rise far away from Xiu, and the sunshine flows back. The noisy cicada forest is more than quiet, and the bird singing mountain is even more secluded. I miss this place so much that I have been traveling there for many years. Since Xie Lingyun founded the school of landscape poetry, there have been many followers who have described and followed it, but none of them has been able to achieve the state of blending the mysterious feelings into the landscape. However, Wang Ji's noisy forest is more quiet, and the bird singing mountain is more secluded, which is very popular with Xie Lingyun. Because of the charm of the poetic style, I thought it was unique outside the literary world (the original biography of "Liang Shu") and I couldn't forget it when reciting simple prose; Xiaoyuan's irony was thought to be impossible to regain. ("Yan Family Instructions") It can be seen that the influence was huge at that time. As for later generations, Ru and other painting theorists who followed Wang Ji and created new poems probably all learned from this poem. In the history of Chinese literature, there are many people who established their status with an article or a poem, and Wang Ji is one of them. Later, when the king of eastern Hunan guarded Jingzhou, he was still invited to consult with the vassal government and join the army, leading him to serve as the commander of the Tang Dynasty. However, Wang Ji eventually became depressed due to his career failure. He ignored county affairs when he was in office, drank alcohol every day, and whipped people away if they had lawsuits. ("Book of Liang·Biography of Wang Ji") Soon, he died of illness.
