1. "Farewell to a Friend"
Tang Dynasty: Li Bai
Green mountains stretch across Beiguo, and white water surrounds the east city.
This place is different, and I have to conquer thousands of miles.
The wandering clouds convey the love of an old friend.
I waved my hand and went away, the horse roared.
Translation: Green mountains lie on the north side of the city wall, and sparkling water surrounds the east side of the city. Here we say goodbye to each other, and you are like a solitary peng blowing in the wind, traveling thousands of miles away. The floating clouds are as unpredictable as wanderers, and the setting sun slowly sets down the mountain, seeming to be nostalgic. They waved goodbye frequently and left, and the horses neighed in farewell.
2. "Send Shen Zifu to the East of the Yangtze River"
Tang Dynasty: Wang Wei
There were few travelers at Yangliu Ferry, and the Master Kou was rowing towards Linqi.
Only lovesickness is like the beauty of spring, sending you home from the south to the north of the Yangtze River.
Translation: There are only a few passengers on the ferry where willows are fluttering, and the boatman is swinging his oar and sailing towards Linqi. Don't hate only lovesickness, like the boundless spring scenery, it will always send you home regardless of the south or the north.
3. "Farewell to Nanpu"
Tang Dynasty: Bai Juyi
Farewell to Nanpu is desolate, the west wind curls up in autumn.
My heart is broken at the sight of it, so don’t look back.
Translation: In the autumn when the west wind is blowing and bleak, I go to the waterside in the south to say goodbye in a sad mood. Looking back once will make you heartbroken, so go ahead and don’t look back again.
4. Farewell to Xin Jian at Furong Tower
Wang Changling [Tang Dynasty]
Entering Wu in the cold rainy night, I saw off my guest Chu Shangu in the bright morning.
When relatives and friends in Luoyang ask each other, their hearts are filled with ice in a jade pot.
Translation: The cold rain spreads all over the Wudi and Jiangtian all night long. After seeing you off in the morning, I face the Chushan Mountain alone with endless sorrow! When you arrive in Luoyang, if your relatives and friends in Luoyang ask about me, please tell them that my heart is still as crystal clear and pure as the ice in the jade pot!
5. "A Farewell to Li Cao in the Evening Rain"
Tang Dynasty: Wei Yingwu
In the light rain on the Chu River, at the dusk of Jianye.
Momo's sail comes with heavy weight, and the dark bird leaves late.
The sea gate is deep and invisible, and the Pu tree is far away.
The love for each other is infinite, and the love between each other is better than loose silk.
Translation: Chujiang River is shrouded in drizzle, and Jianye City is ringing the twilight bell. The water vapor on the river is misty and the sails are covered with shadows. The sky is dark and the birds are slowly returning. The Yangtze River flows into Haimen far away, and the trees along the river are moistened by raindrops. I bid farewell to my old friend with infinite affection, and the tears on my lapels are like the raindrops on the river.
6. "Send Du Shishi to the South of the Yangtze River"
Tang Dynasty: Meng Haoran
Jing and Wu are connected by water as their hometown, and when you go to the spring river, it is vast.
Where to anchor the sail at dusk, the sight of the horizon will break your heart.
Translation: The two lakes, Jiangsu and Zhejiang are closely adjacent to each other, and the rivers are crisscrossing the countryside. When you went, the spring river was full of water and the smoke was vast. At dusk, where is the lonely boat moored? My heart follows my friends to the horizon, and my heart breaks with infinite longing.
7. "Farewell to Xie Ting"
Tang Dynasty: Xu Hun?
A song of labor explains boating, red leaves, green mountains and rapids.
At the end of the day, people are far away from the drunkenness, and the sky is full of wind and rain, going down to the west building.
Translation: After singing the farewell song, you untie your boat and go away. On both sides of the bank are green mountains and red leaves, and the river flows rapidly eastward. In the evening, when I woke up and the people were gone, only the wind and rain in the sky drove me away from the west building.
8. "Farewell at Jingmen"
Tang Dynasty: Li Bai
Crossing the distance outside Jingmen, I came to travel from the Kingdom of Chu.
The mountains end with the plains, and the river flows into the wilderness.
Under the moon, there is a flying mirror, and the clouds form a sea tower.
I still feel sorry for the water in my hometown, and send my boat sailing thousands of miles away.
Translation: I took a boat across the river to the distant Jingmen Gate and visited the territory of Chu State during the Warring States Period. The mountains gradually disappeared with the appearance of flat and vast wilderness, and the rivers flowed in the endless wilderness. The moonlight on the river is like a mirror flying from the sky, and the clouds create a mirage outside the city. I still love this water from my hometown, which came all the way to see my eastbound boat.
9. "Sent Off to Lin Zifang from Jingci Temple at Dawn"
Song Dynasty: Yang Wanli
After all, the scenery of West Lake in June is different from that of the four seasons.
The lotus leaves touching the sky are infinitely green, and the lotus flowers reflecting the sun are uniquely red.
Translation: After all, this is the scenery of West Lake in June. The scenery is very different from other seasons. The dense layers of lotus leaves spread out, as if they are connected with the sky, an endless expanse of green, and the lotus flowers are particularly bright and red under the sun.
10. "A Gift to Wang Lun"
Tang Dynasty: Li Bai
Li Bai was about to leave in a boat when he suddenly heard singing on the shore.
The water in Peach Blossom Pond is a thousand feet deep, not as deep as Wang Lun’s gift to me.
Translation: Li Bai was about to leave in a boat when he suddenly heard the sound of singing from the shore. Even if the water in Peach Blossom Pond is a thousand feet deep, it can't compare with Wang Lun's sentiments for sending me off.
