Today’s Bible Study: John Chapter 5 Verses 19-29
Searchable Pastor Tang Chongrong’s Gospel of John 38.
My Notes:
John 5:19 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do; Only then can you do it. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. John 5:20 The Father loves the Son and shows him all his works. And I will shew him greater things than these, so that you may marvel. John 5:21 Just as the Father raises up the dead and gives life to them, so the Son gives life to others according to his own will. John 5:22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son. John 5:23 That everyone should honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. He who does not respect the Son does not respect the Father who sent the Son. John 5:24 I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come into condemnation; he has passed from death to life. John 5:25 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and is now when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God. Whoever hears it will live. John 5:26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has given the Son to have life in himself. John 5:27 And because he is the Son of Man, authority is given to him to judge. John 5:28 Do not consider this a wonder to you. A time is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out. John 5:29 Those who have done good will be raised to life, and those who have done evil will be raised to condemnation.
What is a channel? It comes from hearing the sermon. Why I have to work so hard to tell you this is to continue to build your faith. The entire structure of the truth, the entire system of belief in the truth, has a root and a foundation "because you are willing to listen to the word" and it is built in you. . Amen! Thank God, many pastors today do not pay attention to preaching or systematically building the faith of believers. Today, many Sunday worship sermons last less than twenty or thirty minutes, and the twenty or thirty minutes of church building, many plans, and people’s problems are subtracted from each other. The real content is less than ten minutes. What’s the result? If you listen to sermons for more than ten minutes a week but less than 500 minutes a year, how can the truth be established? Please Lord have mercy on us. Jesus emphasizes here again, "Whoever hears my words and believes them, if you have faith because of your hearing, you will have eternal life in you, and you will not be condemned." What does it mean, when I judge the whole world, you people of faith will not be surrounded by judgment. What does it mean, save us from judgment. What can save us? How can there be new life when new life is used to free us from condemnation? Because hearing the word produces faith and leads to eternal life. Thank God.
This is consistent with the last sentence of Hebrews Chapter 9. Let’s all look at this section of the Bible. The last sentence of Hebrews Chapter 9, let’s read Chapter 27 first. section, then read on and finish it. According to destiny, everyone is destined to die once, and after death there will be judgment. In this way, since Christ was sacrificed once to bear the sins of many, he will appear a second time to those who are waiting for Him, not to do with sin but to save them. (Hebrews 9:27-28) Amen! What does that mean? You have believed in the Lord, you have believed in Jesus Christ and accepted His salvation, so you no longer need to be condemned or judged. When Jesus comes again, those who believe in Him will be exempted from judgment because they will no longer be condemned. And why? When Christ comes, He comes to condemn others and to save believers. Why? Final redemption comes to believers, unbelievers - final judgment, believers - final redemption. What do you mean by the final redemption? It turns out that our salvation is divided into three parts. The first one is the salvation of the soul. People say: the salvation of the soul. when? When you repented and believed in the Lord and were reborn, was your soul saved? saved. Second, live a victorious life. After you are saved, the Lord’s salvation comes to you and gives you power every day. If you continue to desire the truth and listen to God’s words, God’s words will become the driving force of your life and sanctify you. Therefore, when you are saved, your soul is saved, and after you are saved, your life is victorious. Third, when Jesus returns, the third step is the redemption of the body. Then salvation will be complete. When Jesus returns, he will come to condemn and judge the whole world, but he will also come to perform the final redemption. Our bodies are transformed from corruptible to incorruptible, from earthly to heavenly, from temporal to eternal, from weak to strong, from shameful to glorious. These five great changes are the final salvation that Christ will give us when he returns. Where did you record it? It is recorded in the last paragraph of Chapter 15 of 1 Corinthians: In the last days the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised, the living will be changed, and our bodies will be transformed from earthly to heavenly. from the physical to the spiritual, from the weak to the strong, from the corruptible to the incorruptible, from the humiliating to the glorious. Thank God! ? Because when Christ returns, he will not come to condemn us, but to complete the redemption that has already been carried out on us. When the third step is completed, we are fully favored and fully saved. Let’s analyze it again: first, the soul is saved, second, life is won, and third, the body is redeemed. Has your body been redeemed now? not yet. Have I been redeemed? No.
Where has my body been redeemed? Once I am redeemed, I don’t have to take a plane. I fly here by myself. I have not yet been redeemed, so I will still be sore here and there, and still be sick and weak here and there, precisely because my body has not been redeemed yet. Has your soul been saved? The soul is saved, but is the body redeemed? not yet. The past has been completed, and the future has not yet been obtained, so what are you doing now? To live a victorious life, we must rely on the Lord every day. Satan will pull us down, and the Holy Spirit will pull us back. Satan will tempt us again, and the Holy Spirit will move us again. Desire contends with the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit contends with lust, preventing us from doing what we want to do. When you want to sin, the Holy Spirit pulls you, and you fail to sin. When you want to love the Lord, lust pulls you, and you Love the Lord and fail to love. So Christians can’t accomplish anything, they can’t do good things, they can’t do bad things, they’re suffering to death? But I want to tell you, you must obey the Holy Spirit. Obedience to the Holy Spirit means life and peace, and obeying the flesh means sin and death. Please Lord have mercy on us. We will talk about this today. Will there be one next week? Let’s continue talking about how Christ the Son uses the power of God to do God’s work on earth.
