The Historical Evolution of Zhu De's Former Residence in Yilong, Sichuan
Zhu De's former residence was built by Zhu De's grandfather Zhu Bangjun during Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty (about 1820). It is a courtyard farmhouse with three bright sides and five dark sides, with a construction area of 336 square meters. This house has always belonged to the Zhu family. 1882, Zhu De's grandfather Zhu bangjun rented this house because he had many children, and moved to Cangwu, Dawan, Lijia. 1886, Zhu De was born in Cangwu, Li Jiawan. 1894, Zhu De moved back to his old house in Zhujiawan from Li Jiawan with his adoptive father Zhu Shilian until he left his hometown, where he lived for fourteen years. After that, Zhu De's uncle and Yao's uncle lived here. 1in the middle of 979, the Yilong County Committee decided to build a memorial hall for Comrade Zhu De's former residence, and allocated special funds to nationalize the former residence.
