Disqualification on Earth (also known as Disqualification as a Man) is a novella created by Japanese novelist Osamu Dazai, published in 1948, and it is a semi-autobiographical novel.

Creation background

After the hanging incident, Osamu Dazai suffered from appendicitis, became addicted to a large number of painkillers, and had to be hospitalized for three months, during which he was expelled from the University of Tokyo for failing to pay tuition fees on time.
