1. Guanshan Moon
Tang Dynasty: Li Bai
The bright moon rises out of Tianshan Mountain, among the vast sea of ??clouds.
The wind blows tens of thousands of miles across Yumen Pass.
The Han Dynasty descended to the Baideng Road, and the Hu took a peek at the Qinghai Bay.
The land was conquered, but no one returned.
The garrison guests looked at the border towns, thinking about returning home with many sad faces.
The tall building is like this night, and I have no time to sigh.
Translation:
A bright moon rises from the Qilian Mountains and passes through the vast sea of ??clouds.
The mighty long wind blew tens of thousands of miles and passed Yumen Pass where the soldiers were stationed.
Back then, Han soldiers were targeting the Baishan Mountain Road, while Tubo coveted large areas of rivers and mountains in Qinghai.
This is the place where battles have been fought throughout the ages, and few soldiers who went to battle survived.
The garrison soldiers looked at the scene of the border town in the distance, thinking about returning to their hometown and couldn't help but look sad.
At this time, the soldier's wife was in the high building, lamenting when she would be able to see her relatives far away.
2. One of two Liangzhou poems
Tang Dynasty: Wang Han
A luminous cup of grape wine. If you want to drink pipa, you will be reminded immediately.
Lord Grim, lying drunk on the battlefield, how many people have fought in ancient times?
Translation:
At the wine feast, the mellow grape wine was filled into exquisite luminous cups, and the singers played rapid and cheerful pipa sounds to encourage drinking. They are about to mount their horses and rush to the battlefield to kill the enemy and serve the country. All the soldiers are full of pride.
You must get drunk today before you can rest. So what if you fall drunk on the battlefield? This time I went on an expedition to serve my country. I originally planned to wrap my body in horse leather, but I didn't plan to come back alive.
3. Bai Xuege sent Magistrate Wu back to the capital
Tang Dynasty: Cen Shen
The north wind blows and the white grass breaks on the ground, and it snows in August.
Suddenly a spring breeze came overnight, and thousands of pear trees bloomed.
The pearl curtains are scattered and wet, and the fox fur is not warm and the brocade quilt is thin.
The general's horns and bows cannot be controlled, and the guards' iron coats are cold and cold.
The vast sea is covered with hundreds of feet of ice, and the gloomy clouds condense thousands of miles away.
The Chinese army prepares wine and drinks for returning guests, as well as playing fiddles, lutes, and flutes.
Dusk snow falls one after another on the camp gate, and the wind blows and the red flag remains frozen.
I saw you off at the east gate of Luntai. When you left, the Tianshan Road was covered with snow.
You can't be seen on the mountain winding road, leaving a place for horses to walk in the sky above the snow.
Translation:
The north wind sweeps across the land and breaks the white grass, and the weather in the Hu land is full of snow in August.
Suddenly, it was like a spring breeze blowing overnight, and thousands of pear trees were in full bloom.
Snowflakes scattered into the bead curtain and wet the silk curtain. The fox fur was not warm enough to wear and the brocade quilt was too thin.
The general’s gauntlets were too cold to draw his bow, and his armor was too cold to wear.
The desert is frozen for hundreds of feet with cracks vertically and horizontally, and gloomy clouds gather in the sky for thousands of miles.
In the coach's tent, wine was placed to bid farewell to returning guests, and an ensemble of fiddles, pipa, lutes and flutes was played to entertain the guests.
In the evening, heavy snow kept falling in front of the camp gate, and the red flag was frozen and could not be pulled by the wind.
Outside the east gate of Luntai I send you off to Beijing. When you left, the Tianshan Road was covered with heavy snow.
You can no longer be seen on the winding mountain road, leaving only a line of horse hoof marks on the snow.
4. Send off the second envoy of the Yuan Dynasty to Anxi/Weicheng Qu
Tang Dynasty: Wang Wei
The morning rain in Weicheng is light and dusty, and the guesthouses are green and willow-colored.
I advise you to drink another glass of wine. There will be no old friends when you leave Yangguan in the west.
Translation:
The light rain in the early morning moistened the dust on the ground in Weicheng, and the branches and leaves of the willow trees in the tiles of Guanyi Qingtang were green and new.
I sincerely advise my friend to drink another glass of wine. It will be difficult to meet old relatives when you leave Yangguan to the west.
5. Joined the army in the Northern Expedition
Tang Dynasty: Li Yi
After the snow in the Tianshan Mountains, the sea was windy and cold, and the horizontal flute was blowing, making it difficult to travel.
Qili recruited 300,000 people, and I looked back at the middle of the month.
Translation:
It snowed heavily in the Tianshan Mountains, and the wind blowing from Qinghai Lake made it even colder. During the march, the soldiers played the flute song "The Journey Is Difficult."
Hearing this sad farewell song, the three hundred thousand soldiers stationed at the border all raised their heads and looked at the rising moon.
