This poem has only two sentences, but it has been circulated for thousands of years and is often praised by the world.

When it comes to ancient poetry, almost everyone first thinks of Tang poetry, that is, the works of poets in the Tang Dynasty. In fact, as early as the Western Zhou Dynasty more than 3,000 years ago, our ancestors began to write poems. The Book of Songs was written in the Spring and Autumn Period and contains more than 300 poems. Later, there were Chu Ci represented by Qu Yuan, Yuefu poems in Qin and Han Dynasties, and folk songs in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. The Tang Dynasty reached the peak of poetry.

There are countless poets in past dynasties, and there are countless works left behind, but not many of them can reach household names. Some poets only pay attention to the quantity of their works and don't care about the quality at all. The most representative poet is Gan Long. Among his tens of thousands of poems, almost none is widely known, and it is not easy to reach this level.

On the contrary, some poets have few works but high quality. Take Zhang in the Tang Dynasty as an example. With the poem "Moonlit Night on a Spring River", it is enough to stand out from the crowd, and it is even called a lonely piece, which covers the whole Tang Dynasty and kills all the works of Qianlong. I wonder how Ganlong feels about this?

In the eyes of ordinary people, there are at least four poems, eight of which are very ordinary, with dozens or hundreds of sentences. There is no specific provision for the number of words in ancient poetry. It depends entirely on the poet's mood, as long as he can express his thoughts. A poet in the Song Dynasty wrote a poem with only two sentences, but it has been circulated for thousands of years and is often praised by the world.

This poem is called "Broken Sentences" and written by Su Lin. Isn't that weird? However, if you tell the content of the poem, most people will recite it backwards, that is, "the moon comes first near the water tower, and flowers and trees are easy to spring in the sun." Nowadays, these two poems are applicable to many occasions, such as love, job hunting, entrepreneurship and so on. Under what circumstances did Su Lin write it?

Su Lin was an official around Fan Zhongyan at first, and later he was sent to other places for inspection. He is a stranger and has nothing to do with it. Although he works hard and often works overtime until late at night, he has never been promoted. Fan Zhongyan, who did not avoid his relatives, promoted many former subordinates after being reused by the court. Perhaps because he hasn't contacted for a long time, he forgot Surin, a very capable person.

On one occasion, it coincided with Fan Zhongyan's birthday, and Su Lin traveled all the way to Hangzhou to celebrate the birthday of his former boss. Fan Zhongyan saw Su Lin sitting alone in the corner drinking, so he went over and asked him how his work and life were recently. Su Lin sighed, and then presented two poems: "The moon comes first near the water tower, and flowers and trees are easy to make spring in the sun."

On the surface, it means pavilions, flowers and trees, but in fact, it means: Mr. Fan, you know my ability. You promoted so many people. Why don't you give me a chance? How clever Fan Zhongyan was, he immediately recognized the implication of Su Lin. After understanding in many ways, Fan Zhongyan felt that Su Lin really should be reused, so he recommended him to the court, and Su Lin was quickly promoted.
