The whole poem can be divided into two parts, the first six sentences are the background, and the last six sentences are a piece of nonsense. The first six sentences are easy to understand: an old grave was dug up, and the next day, a new grave was built on its original site. Two stone men in front of the grave have been guarding the tomb for many years. This is not the first time for them to see off the old and welcome in the new, is it? Today, however, I'm afraid these two stone men who look indifferent are a little strange in their hearts-the new soul has been attached to the body and entered the pyramid-shaped mound, and the old soul can't keep up with the bones. They meet each other in a narrow way. The old soul doesn't add harsh words to the new soul that expelled itself from the old place, but cries at it, and the reason why it cries is not that it will become a wandering soul, but that it will get a home, as we know below! Strange, such a cry. What is even more strange is the repeated exhortation of the old soul to the new soul that the stone man heard: "There is a good cemetery to live in, but don't expect too many descendants!" Of course, it would be very sad if, after being buried, there were no children and grandchildren immediately, and the wild grave was dug up and planed. But that's an exception, let's just leave it alone. "The present situation is that when sons and grandchildren bury themselves, they sincerely pray for their souls to rest in peace, and bless their children and grandchildren, and they will spread endlessly without being cut? . However, today's descendants have indeed spread to the fourth and fifth generations ... Unexpectedly, perhaps because their teeth are growing and their livelihood is shrinking, even their ancestral graves have to be sold to make ends meet; Perhaps it is because the world is thin, people's hearts are not ancient, and the graves of ancestors are not sacrificed or swept, allowing them to be discovered. Who knows them? In a word, isn't it sad that the great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren sheltered by their own ghosts watched their sheltered ancestors being dug up? However, although I was sadly dug up, this sorrow has finally passed. What's even sadder now is that I watched you go my old way again. Thinking that you will be dug up someday, can I not cry for you? So, think it over, man, it's better not to bother to bury your children. " -in such an ordinary and easy-to-understand sentence, the thought is so tortuous that even the stone man in front of the tomb should be greatly surprised.

It is probably the greatest hope of the deceased for his descendants to be buried behind him. Therefore, "If the arrogant ghost is poor" is a terrible thing; It is a natural responsibility for future generations to build a "tomb for ancestors". Therefore, it is highly commendable for men to destroy their homes and women to sell their bodies to bury their relatives. As for who will take care of their rotten bones after the death of their children and grandchildren, and whether they will be buried in Lingyi in the future after the tomb is built, this is not to be considered: anyway, all these expectations and responsibilities are related to filial piety, and there is nothing vague in the era of "re-education". From this point of view, Fan Yi's poem, which thinks all this through, looks so lightly and describes it so inexpressibly, is a shocking language. Its departure from the moral code is far from the truth, and it is needless to say that it is empty. Just give an example to know. Lang Ying, a Ming Dynasty poet, made an evaluation of this poem in the Seven Revision Manuscripts, saying that "Miao Li is too harsh" on the grounds that "according to the songs, people will never use their descendants and graves"-a symbol of the traditional "grave" and the descendants who follow the tradition. In the view of the orthodox school, how can it be rare! It's a different story, no common goal, no common goal. In the place where Fan Yi looks very well-dressed, thinks very openly, and speaks lightly, the orthodox school can't see clearly, can't figure it out, and argues with iron plates.
