The characteristics of Liu's poems also stem from the poet's conscious aesthetic pursuit. Liu Zongyuan clearly put forward the writing standards of "pride", "solution", "clearness", "swimming" and "solution" in "Answering Wei Zhongli's Taoist Book", all of which are related to coldness. In his creative practice, Liu Zongyuan has a special preference for images with a sense of coldness and rigor, and uses a lot of words such as "waning moon", "withered tung", "deep bamboo", "cold pine", "zero dew", "cold light" and "deep valley". In terms of color selection, it also focuses on cool colors such as cyan, emerald and blue. For example, the only words used in his two poems "Water Curtain of Surrounding Rock" and "Water Curtain of Surrounding Rock Under Rock" are cyan, green branches, green grass, green feathers and cold light, which makes the poetic scene dark. As for the words with sharp images used in Liu's poems, there are many places, such as "cutting thorns vigorously" (Ci of Cage Eagle), "Six ridges on the left and right are like knives" (Ci), and "Lin Bu's back is like a halberd" (A Letter of Poetry from Deheng Prefecture). When bleak cool tones are combined with sharp and tough words, both the tone of the work and the author's feelings will inevitably show cold and hard style characteristics. This feature is embodied in Jiang Xue, who is known as the most quatrains in the Tang Dynasty:
There are no birds flying over those mountains, and there are no traces of people in those paths. A boat on the river, a fisherman wearing his webworm moth; Fishing alone is not afraid of snow and ice.
One is "unique" and the other is "extinct", indicating that the environment is extremely cold and lonely; A "cold" and a "snow" have added a strong cold and chilling atmosphere to this cold and lonely place. There is cold here and steep there, which means cold in steep and cold in steep. The high combination of the two forms a spotless cold style and a poetic realm with different customs. Liu Zongyuan's inner feelings of anxiety, loneliness, loneliness and fierceness are expressed through this cold style and poetic realm, flashing deep and dignified but detached life sentiment.
Of course, Liu Zongyuan's poetic style still has a cold side to Xu. Many predecessors associated Liu's poems with the poetic styles of Tao Yuanming and Wei, and thought: "Liu Zihou's poems are more expensive than Suzhou under Tao Yuanming, which means that they are dry outside, light and elegant in the middle, light and beautiful, and deep and thick." From the perspective of elegant style, some of Liu's poems are indeed similar to those of Tao and Wei, that is, they all give people a fresh and elegant feeling with their style of being close to nature and not doing algae.
