From Li Shangyin's Untitled Four Poems of the Tang Dynasty (I), the original text is:
You said the meeting was empty talk, after we didn't see its trace; Wake up in the oblique moonlight upstairs and listen to Xiao Zhong Chuming. The dream in the wound is far from being called; When I woke up, I began to write a letter.
The layering of residual jade is hazy; Musk smoked through the tulle, soft. But what I can't reach is the magic mountain. You are over there, beyond Wanfeng.
Translation:
She said she would come, but that was empty talk. As soon as she left, she disappeared. I waited upstairs until the waning moon sank in the west, and there came the morning bell of the fifth watch. Because I am far away, I regard it as a dream, in which I cried, but it was hard to wake up for a long time; After waking up, I wrote a letter in a hurry, feeling anxious and the ink was not cut.
In the corner of the candle, a curtain decorated with gold and jade is half hidden; The scent of blue musk deer dyed the hibiscus embroidered on the bedding. Just like the ancient Liulang, I have been disgusted with the remoteness of Pengshan Wonderland. The person I miss is so heavy across Pengshan!

Creative background:
At the age of fifteen or sixteen, Li Shangyin was sent to Yuyangshan by his family to learn Taoism. In the meantime, he met and fell in love with Song Huayang, a female Taoist in Yuyang Mountain, but their feelings could not be known to outsiders, so they could only use poems to remember their feelings and hide their problems. Most of Li Shangyin's untitled poems are about their love stories. This poem is one of them.
Ideological theme:
This is an erotic poem. In the poem, the hostess misses her lover far away and hates that the good times are not around. Express a man's deep yearning for his lover at the ends of the earth.
About the author:
Li Shangyin (about 8 13-858), born in Yuxi, xi, was a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty. He and Du Mu are called Xiao, Li He and Li Bai are called Sanli, and Wen Li is called Wenli.
Li Shangyin was one of the few poets who deliberately pursued the beauty of poetry in the late Tang Dynasty and even the whole Tang Dynasty. He is good at poetry writing, and parallel prose also has high literary value. His poems are novel in conception and beautiful in style, especially some love poems and untitled poems are touching, beautiful and moving, and are widely read. But some poems (represented by Jinse) are too obscure and puzzling.
