The Original Text and Appreciation of Red Cliff Mutu

Du Mu

A broken iron halberd sank into the sand and disappeared, only to find that it was the remnant of Battle of Red Cliffs after grinding and washing.

If the east wind is not convenient for Zhou Yu, I'm afraid the outcome will be Cao Cao's victory and Er Qiao's detention in Tongquetai.

This is an epic poem written by the poet hanging on the ancient battlefield of Chibi. It believes that the success or failure of historical figures is accidental. Du Mu's quatrains set off a discussion on the poet's poems. "Chibi", the mountain name, is located in the northwest of Puyin County, Hubei Province, on the south bank of the Yangtze River, and on the other side is Wulin. Legend has it that Sun Quan, Liu Bei and Cao Cao fought a decisive battle. In the 13th year of Jian 'an (208), Battle of Red Cliffs laid the foundation for the tripartite confrontation among the three countries. Zhou Yu commanded Wu Jun, as the main force, and defeated Cao Cao's 800,000 troops with fire attack, becoming a hero in history.

This poem is exquisitely conceived. There are two levels: the first two sentences are recorded, beginning with "broken halberd"; After the second sentence, I made a fuss about "Dongfeng" and wrote a whole poem vividly. Du Mu deserves to be a master of the four wonders.

At the beginning, the poet skillfully used the "broken halberd" to render an atmosphere of the ancient battlefield. In the ancient battlefield of Chibi near the Yangtze River, a broken halberd sunk in the sand was excavated. Although it was soaked in the river, it did not rot. The poet picked it up, rusted it, washed it, and recognized it from the inscription as a weapon cast in the Three Kingdoms period. In the second sentence, the four verbs "Jiang", "Mo", "Wash" and "Recognition" are used around, which reminds the poet of the two sides at war between Zhou Yu and Cao Cao.

Zhou Yu defeated the strong with weakness, and the key lies in fire attack; The key to the success of fire attack is to rely on the east wind. Cao Jun was not familiar with water fighting, and mistakenly connected the ships, making them end to end. When the southeast wind was blowing, Wu Jun took the opportunity to send an arson boat. Zhang Fan plunged into Cao Cao's water army and set fire to the ship. Zhou Yu took advantage of the chaos in Cao Jun, led a good soldier to attack and defeated the other side. If we talk about this matter from the front, it will inevitably become a generalization. On the other hand, the poet said: If the east wind does not provide convenience for Zhou Yu, Cao Cao may become the winner, taking Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao away and putting them on the bronze sparrow terrace as his concubines. Tongque Terrace was built by Cao Cao in Yecheng (now southwest of Linzhang, Hebei Province) in the fifteenth year of Jian 'an (2 10), and it was named after the big copper finches on the roof. "Spring", referring to Chun Qing, belongs to the pen of banter. Er Qiao, Gong Qiao's two daughters, is a national color. Da Qiao married Sun Ce and Xiao Qiao married Zhou Yu. Er Qiao belongs to Cao Cao, which means the destruction of Wu Dong. Zhou Yu became famous by the east wind; Without the east wind, Zhou Yu may not even be able to keep his wife and children. The last two poems are sharp, vivid, ingenious and humorous. Du has been talented and resourceful since ancient times, but he didn't meet the opportunity of "Dongfeng", so he used Zhou Yu as an excuse.

The last two sentences are wonderful. Everyone sings red cliff, only at that time they are good at winning, while Du Mu sings red cliff, only at that time they are worried about losing. This is out of nothing, surviving in death, not superficial knowledge. ("Notes on Xie Fangde's Tang Poems")

Du Mu's poem "Red Cliff" ... means that red cliff can't be set on fire, so Zuo Zongtang can seize the bronze sparrow terrace set by Er Qiao. Sun Shi believes that this is the First World War, and the country will live and die. I don't ask, for fear of catching Er Qiao, which shows that I don't know likes and dislikes. (China)

Zhouyan's writing is enough to make people think, but he never dreamed of the purpose of writing poetry. Mu Zhi's poem, which covers the work of Chibi, is a fluke. If it weren't for the weather and the east wind, Zhou Lang wouldn't have set it on fire, and Er Qiao would be a prisoner, so how could it be found safely in Jiangdong? Mu Zhi's poem, that is, Yan Zhou Bo Ye failed to get what he wanted, but it was hidden, which was read by a group of shallow people. It was better to guess only from the perspective of being afraid of catching Er Qiao. Poets are most afraid of telling the truth. If Yanzhou's so-called national crisis, life destruction, and Sun Shi's hegemony are unequal, just tell the truth in the poem, why shallow and tasteless? But by saying "Tongquetai locks Er Qiao in spring", it feels elegant and rich, which increases people's feelings. This kind of politics is where people are good at making statements. Yan Zhougai knows one and doesn't know the other. (His grandson's poem raft)

Why do you have to "recognize"? Why must we be humble? Mu Zhi Spring and Autumn Period, seven words. Wei Wu is good at fighting, so why was he defeated? Zhou Lang won the victory. He is no match for Wei Wu. He didn't seem to believe it and had to admit it. Zi Xi's point of view is that Zhou Lang won, although it was Wei Wu's victory, it was a fluke. The next two sentences say that Zhou Lang lost the east wind at that time, so he had to use his fire attack strategy. If there is no east wind, water and fire will be incompatible. If he sees that he can't win Wei, Jiangdong will be destroyed by Wei, and even his wife belongs to Wei. Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao were held in Tongquetai. Mu Zhi Gay is an expert in the art of war. (Xu Zeng's "Said Tang Poetry" Volume 12)

(Xu) There are many arguments and unique topics. Du Mu's poem "Red Cliff" did not say that Duji lived, but only said Er Qiao. I didn't know it was Sun Ce's wife, and Xiao Qiao was Zhou Yu's wife. They entered Wei, that is, Wu died. The poet doesn't want to be qualitative and change his words. It is extremely ungrateful to denounce it as "ignorant of likes and dislikes".
