The middle Tang Dynasty is the gestation period of Tang poetry. At this time, there were more poetic styles and schools than in the prosperous Tang Dynasty: the landscape poems of Liu Changqing and Wei, and the frontier poems of Li Yi and Lu Lun all inherited the poetic style of the prosperous Tang Dynasty to some extent; Han Yu and Meng Jiao intentionally carried forward Du Fu's unique personality, and formed the Han Meng School of Poetry characterized by "sparseness". Li He combines the romantic colors of Chu Ci, Yuefu and Li Bai, and is unique. Both Liu Yuxi and Liu Zongyuan have their own characteristics, whether they are thinking about ancient love affairs or expressing their grievances through mountains and rivers. It is worth noting that some of them deliberately scrutinize the language, such as Han Yu and Meng Jiao, some deliberately depict the artistic conception, such as Li He and Liu Zongyuan, and others especially like to write poems with comments or essays, such as Han Yu, which not only further enriches the "Tang Yin" but also opens up the "Song Tone" to a certain extent.
The most influential school of poetry in the middle Tang Dynasty was the New Yuefu Movement, headed by Bai Juyi, and widely participated by Li Shen, Yuan Zhen and Zhang Jihe Wang Jian.
