Thanks for another chamber music performance! Similar to The Soldier's Last Story, Copland, a modern American composer, was deeply influenced by neoclassicism, preferring a musical style with simple form and natural melody expression. 1943 He and the famous dancer Martha? Gary co-wrote a one-act play, ballet music "Spring in Apara". This story is about a farmer in the mountains of Pennsylvania at the beginning of last century. A pioneer's celebration ball is being held around a newly-built house. The bride and groom are very happy and thank their neighbors for coming. Guests include Shaker and other pioneers. Let's celebrate and dance together, leaving the bride and groom alone after the dance. The music is lyrical and fresh, emitting the breath of spring, with a strong English country flavor.
In the original ballet version, Copeland used thirteen instruments for indoor orchestra arrangement. Later, at 1945, Copland adapted this piece into a larger orchestra suite. In addition to expanding the arrangement, the music content has also been modified and added. The whole song consists of eight paragraphs, but there is no interruption in the middle of the performance One suite at a time!
The following is a brief introduction of eight paragraphs in Apara's Spring of Deeds:
(1) Very slow adagio-In ballet, introduce the opening characters of music. As the beginning of the suite, it shows the quiet and distant scene of the Appalachian Mountains in the spring sun.
(2) Allegro-the quiet mood was suddenly broken by a powerful theme on stringed instruments and piano. Obviously, the passion of this theme is organically integrated with religious color.
(3) China board-this is a duet between the bride and fiance. The gentle melody was originally embodied in a lyric melody of clarinet, but when this melody gradually expanded into statements of oboe, clarinet and French horn through a lot of speed changes, the gentle mood was suddenly filled with enthusiasm.
(4) Allegro-This piece of music begins with a square dance by the priest and his followers, and is expressed in a pleasant and humorous dance tune. This melody depicts the scene of a gathering of country violinists and has a simple folk music style.
(5) Faster middle board-this piece of music is deep and thoughtful, showing the bride's indecision about her new life.
(6) Dashboard-Flutes and violins gallop rapidly, depicting a boiling group dance scene.
(7) "Rapunzel"-The theme of this song is selected from a song called "Simplicity is a Gift" in the collection of religious songs. The theme melody is lively and lively, which shows the busy and orderly daily life of the bride and fiance.
(8) The middle board-the neighbors left safely, and the young couple moved into their new house. String instruments with mute instruments sang a quiet prayer-like music, which is a variation of the second theme. Finally, the whole song ended in an atmosphere of calm memories.
Comments on KPLAU
Variations, also known as "themes and variations", are widely used in music works. Its principle is: first play a self-contained "theme", and then follow a series of theme variations (variations) to make the theme develop in many ways. Its structure is: theme-variation 1- variation 2- variation 3. The theme of variations can be taken from folk music, fragments of the composer's own old works or works of others. The number of changes varies from three or four times to dozens. The way of mutation is not necessarily. You can change the melody, harmony, rhythm, mode, tonality and texture. Variations are the most common folk music in China.
