Monologues in China's Taiping Poems

The Big Bubble-Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre is in the fourth grade, and it has been more than 9 years now. I reread many famous works here, as well as highly respected female novels such as Gone with the Wind, Pride and Prejudice, A Dream of Red Mansions and so on. He is also a frequent visitor to my bedside. However, I have been short of comments on Jane Eyre. When I first saw it when I was a child, I only felt that it tasted like chewing wax, the eccentric hero and heroine and the passionate monologue, so that only Miss Ingram's gorgeous dress left a deep impression on me after reading it. The public is puzzled by the success of Jane Eyre.

When I can think about the world a little, my dislike of Jane Eyre is not confined to Alan Yu's consciousness. All unhappiness or fanaticism in the world has its own reasons. However, when I opened the search website, I didn't find any critical comments about Jane Eyre, which is really a miracle for a novel.

Self-esteem, soul, integrity, nobility ... When a bubble is endowed with many heavy meanings, it naturally appears great and extraordinary. I admit that this novel does call for the noblest part of human nature, but the overly perfect and noble ending is illusory. I can't see myself, I can't see the normal human nature with weaknesses, I just feel reluctant and artificial.

The author's narcissism and extreme pursuit of perfection are unconsciously projected into this novel because of the helplessness of reality. Before we are busy thanking Jane Eyre for its great baptism of our souls, we might as well regard it as the product of the author's balanced self-mentality.

About humanity

People are neither "inherently good" nor "inherently evil". Everything in the world is like two sides of a coin. It's fake whether it's completely beautiful or completely ugly. Too great is as doubtful as too small.

Jane Eyre, don't pursue the noble side of human nature to the extreme! Abandoning women's natural desire to be conquered and femininity and deliberately being tough and tough; Abandon the fear of human animals and be brave and fearless; Give up the pursuit of whitewashing peace and luxurious food, and deliberately put an end to people's desires; Abandon people's innate inferiority complex and deliberately be neither humble nor supercilious ... I'm sorry, but is she still a person with complete humanity? The grandeur and sublimity of independent personality, you are too far away, illusory and ridiculous.

In the face of Miss Ingram's brilliance and nobility, why isn't she jealous? Facing the soft pink satin, why does she prefer old clothes? Why did she abandon the expensive and exquisite veil? Faced with a huge legacy, why did she treat it like dirt and even divide it with others? This is not only admirable, but also irritating.

I'd rather see Scarlett swooning over the green velvet hat than Jane Eyre boasting that she has nothing.

"Jane Eyre is the most approachable idol in the hearts of generations of women. She won't be difficult to get close to, and her shadow will float around us. " Perfect personality is horrible, and its existence is a kind of pressure on normal human nature.

About independence

"Which is more important, spiritual independence or material independence?" This proposition has always been related to "to be or not to be?" Although ancient, it is meaningless. I don't see any contradiction between spirit and matter. When we have one, must we refuse the other?

Jane Eyre's extreme rejection of material needs stems from the hypocrisy of human nature. At the same time, she is also a female writer who was born in the19th century and was imprisoned by the ideological limitations of the times. In short, Charlotte's understanding of independence is very narrow. The independence of the heroine in the work is limited to preferring to starve to death rather than beg a man (even "not relying on" to the point of illness), without a person's body and spirit? "If the ice water is so jealous, it's no use joking with others.".

Charlotte didn't realize that a woman who refuses a man doesn't have to be poor, but she can also be successful and rich. Charlotte advocated that women should leave home, but did not suggest that women should start their own businesses. This is the narrowness of what she calls "independence".

However, the limitations of the times are not her fault. I only regret that many girls with Jane Eyre fantasies, a starving person, can easily shout "My spirit is noble".

About secularism

"Do you think that because I am poor, humble, unattractive and short, I have no soul? You think wrong! I have a soul like you and a heart! I am not talking to you with my body now, but my heart is talking to your heart, as if we have all passed away and stood before God equally, because we are equal. " This famous monologue about spiritual equality shocked me at first. At the same time, the poor governess and the unruly rich male employer broke through the traditional love, which really seemed to show the protagonist's informality.

However, this flash is also accompanied by the author's platitudes. Cao Xueqin's evaluation of Miaoyu is: "If you want to be clean, why should you be clean?" Cloud is not necessarily empty. " This is in line with Jane Eyre's constant pursuit of nobility and equality, but she is just a vulgar woman who is unable to resist fate and deceive herself.

The most puzzling thing about this book is that Jane Eyre decided to leave after learning that Rochester had a wife. The so-called Jane Eyre pursues equality and is unwilling to be a mistress. Just think, since it is a dialogue between the heart and the heart, and it is a love between the soul and the flesh, why are we afraid of the marriage system and secular names? What is the difference between a wife and a mistress? There is nothing, where did the dust come from? It is ridiculous that the poor hero and heroine's great love that broke through class status fell under the name of secular marriage.

Another point is "the same effect". After getting a large inheritance, Jane Eyre finally returned to the protagonist as an equal. The "equal status" here is the so-called status in secular society. Charlotte's ending arrangement, which is similar to social norms and conforms to common sense, is a great failure after singing the spirit. It can be seen that she is still confined to the bourgeois marriage system and moral norms.

……

As we all know, when Charlotte wrote Jane Eyre, she substituted herself into the role. She really created it to satisfy her instinct. Her creation let her vent her helplessness in the face of reality, and provided readers with the pleasure of daydreaming. This autobiographical creation makes it difficult for the author to keep rational thinking, so there are many extremes and fantasies in this book. As a literature lover, we should first look at it objectively and don't be busy singing hymns.
