The mountains were desolate and silent for twenty-three years. People come back. Like people in Michelle, I can only play the flute, and I am disappointed. On one side of the boat, Qian Fan races; At the head of the sick tree, every year is a spring shower. Today, listen to you sing a song, drink a glass of wine and cheer up.
This poem was written by Liu Yuxi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, in the winter of Zong Baoli's second year. At that time, Liu Yuxi returned to Luoyang after the strike in Suzhou, passing through Yangzhou, and met Bai Juyi who also returned to Luoyang after the strike in Suzhou. It was written to repay Bai Juyi, and it is an excellent poem in appreciation.
Liu Yuxi received Bai Juyi's poems, focusing on expressing his feelings under specific circumstances. In Bai Juyi's poems, Bai Juyi expressed infinite feelings about Liu Yuxi's experience. On the one hand, he lamented Liu Yuxi's unfortunate fate, on the other hand, he praised Liu Yuxi's talent and fame. His sympathy contained praise, which was very euphemistic.
So, at the beginning of the poem, Liu Yuxi went on to say that he had lived in the desolate area of Bashan Chushui for 23 years. Come and go, showing the intimate relationship between friends. Therefore, the poet naturally lamented that he had been away for 23 years, and now when he came back, many old friends had died, so he could only recite Wendy Fu in vain to express his condolences. Coming back is like a previous life, and it feels completely different. It's not the past anymore.
Bai Juyi said that all peers have been promoted, and only you have wasted your life alone in a desolate place, which is quite unfair to Liu Yuxi. In this regard, Liu Yuxi compared himself to a sunken ship and a sick tree in his reward poems. Although he is disappointed, he is quite philosophical.
On the side of the sunken ship, Qian Fan is competing; Before the sick tree, everything is spring, but it comforts Bai Juyi not to grieve for his loneliness and idleness, showing an open mind to the changes of the world and the rise and fall of officials.
