Jingning County belongs to Pingliang City, Gansu Province, formerly known as Jingning. It started in the Yuan Dynasty and was located in Jingning House. Following the initials of "Jingbian Village" in Song and Jin Dynasties, it means peace and tranquility. In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), Jingning prefecture was changed to a county.
Jingning is the west gate of Pingliang. Located in central Gansu, west of Liupanshan Mountain and east of huajialing, it borders Longde and Xiji County in Ningxia in the east and north, Tongwei and Qin 'an County in the west and south, Huining County in the northwest and Zhuanglang County in the southeast. It is an important town in the middle line of the eastern section of the ancient Silk Road, with a total area of 2 193 square kilometers, a total cultivated land of10.47 million mu, and a mountainous dry land. Jingning County has a warm temperate semi-humid and semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons, mild climate and abundant sunshine.
