Jingning County belongs to Pingliang City, Gansu Province, formerly known as Jingning. It started in the Yuan Dynasty and was located in Jingning House. Following the initials of "Jingbian Village" in Song and Jin Dynasties, it means peace and tranquility. In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), Jingning prefecture was changed to a county.

Jingning is the west gate of Pingliang.
