The complete poem of "Shui Tiao Ge Tou"

On the Mid-Autumn Festival in Bingchen, I drank happily till the end of the day and got drunk. I wrote this article because I was pregnant with my son.

When will the bright moon appear? Ask the sky for wine. I don’t know what year it is today in the palace in the sky. I want to ride the wind back home, but I'm afraid it's too cold in the high places. Dancing clear shadow, like in the world.

Turn to the Zhu Pavilion, where you will find a low-rise house, and the light will make you sleepless. There shouldn't be any hatred, so what's the point of saying goodbye? People have joys and sorrows, separations and reunions, and the moon waxes and wanes. This is a difficult thing in ancient times. I hope that people will live long and travel thousands of miles to meet Chanjuan.

Translation:

In the Mid-Autumn Festival of the year Bingchen, I drank all night long and came home drunk, so I wrote this poem - and I missed my brother Su Che a little.

How can we know the waxing and waning of the moon? I raised my glass and asked the sky. I wonder what year it is now in the Heavenly Palace? I could have gone up with the breeze to ask about my old friends, but I was afraid that the tall buildings with red walls and stacked pavilions would make me unable to withstand the chill at that high place. And how can the scenery above the nine heavens compare to the silver light at this moment, like the dancing shadows of palace maids and the gentle wind swaying on the water?

In the blink of an eye, the moon jumped from the eaves of the tall building to the window lattice full of clusters of carved flowers, staring at a foreigner like me who was tossing and turning. Yue'er, Yue'er, did I offend you in any way? Otherwise, why would I be extra round when I was parting from my relatives and friends? Why! In fact, I also know that since ancient times, the joys and sorrows in this world are just like the waxing and waning of the moon, and it is difficult to achieve perfection. I just hope that my relatives and friends far away are safe and happy, even if they are separated by thousands of rivers and mountains, bathing in the same moonlight, it is the same as when we were together.

Shui Tiao Ge Tou: Ci brand name, also known as "Yuan Hui Qu", "Taicheng Tour", "Kai Ge", "Jiangnan Hao", "Hua Guan" "Niannu" and so on. There are ninety-five characters in double tone, with flat rhyme (the Song Dynasty also used a mixture of flat rhyme and flat rhyme). It is said that Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty opened the Bianhe River and made his own "Shui Tiao Song", which was performed by the Tang Dynasty people as a Daqu.
