Writers of the poetic revolution all demanded French and western methods to varying degrees. Liang Qichao said: "The artistic conception of European sentences is rich and varied, which can last forever and cover everything." He said that he would "try his best to introduce European spiritual thoughts into the poems of new people." (Hawaii Travel Notes) Kang Youwei also said: "The new world is strange, but also looking for new sounds in Europe and Asia." These views reflect the new poet's efforts to pursue new ideas and new things. However, Liang Qichao stressed that all this must be coordinated with the "old body" to avoid the situation of "moving the animals of Jupiter and Venus to America" (Hawaii Travel Notes). At that time, some overseas students were advocating music education, and lyrics creation was all the rage. Under this influence, Huang Zunxian wrote "new style" poems such as "Military Songs" and "Songs for Kindergarten Learning". Liang Qichao praised the military songs, thinking that their spirit was magnificent, lively and profound, and their style of writing was unprecedented in 2000, and they were praised as "the great power of poetry revolution". In the 29th year of Guangxu (1903), several lyrics published by Jiangsu Magazine were also affirmed by Liang Qichao and regarded as "the first literary renaissance in China". He believes that the combination of rhyme and music is a long tradition of China literature. Since the Qing dynasty, this tradition has been interrupted, so the influence of literature on the people has been isolated. He hoped that people with will would be brave and diligent, "reconcile them with Yuan Yi's style and exquisite rhetoric", and strive to become China's Shakespeare and Milton (Poetry in the Ice Room).
During this period, folk songs have also been transformed and utilized to a certain extent. In the 28th year of Guangxu (1902), during Liang Qichao's creation of New Fiction, Huang Zunxian suggested to him that poetry should be published "between typing words and Cantonese", or three words, five words, seven words, nine words or long and short sentences, which were called miscellaneous ballads (letters to ice drinkers). Liang Qichao accepted this suggestion and not only published it. Liang Qichao praised these newly created ballads as "Fang Xin is extremely tired, which means" Li Sao ",and called their authors" warriors of literary revolution "(poems in the ice room).
