This poem has made a bold innovation in form, turning the praise of eroticism in the old topic into a satire on the lewd life of the court, and reflecting the poet's dissatisfaction with the current court.
This poem was written by Li Bai when he was wandering in wuyue in the 19th year of Kaiyuan (73 1). This is the place where Fu Cha, the king of Wu, and beautiful women sing and dance day and night. Li Bai missed the past and wrote an epic poem "Wu Qiqu". On the surface, this poem is written about the king of Wu, but in fact it is satirizing Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty.
